Day Z SA Early Access - Can I run it or should I wait till upgrade?

Recommended Posts

Just went on steam today when I got home and saw Day Z sitting there, don't care that it's early alpha and it will be riddled with problems. I'm dying to give it a go but before I fork out the cash I was wondering if anyone has an idea what sort of FPS I could expect. Even if I'm playing on lowest settings so long as the game is playable I don't care.

Currently I have an i3 540 and Radeon 7770 w/ 4GB RAM however I will soon be upgrading to a 4770k overclocked to 4.2 - 4.4 GHZ and 8GB of RAM. I'm just wondering if there is any point in buying the Alpha at the moment or if I should just wait until I upgrade?

(also if anyone knows how the 4770k handles Day Z, I know it's a good CPU but don't want to end up buying it and find it doesn't suffice to run Day Z on high settings)

Right now Day Z mod is just playable so long as there aren't too many added things on the server and on DayZero it runs quite well expect in cities where there is still a big drop.

In my experience in the past two weeks with the Alpha, performance is about the same as the mod with my hardware (and from talking with others, they're finding the same) - the main difference is that it looks much prettier - you get more bang for your buck.

So yeah, general 'ballpark' advice would be that if you can run the mod at an acceptable framerate, you should probably get similar performance in the SA.

I think you might be ok to run it now seeing as you can handle the mod, the FPS on the game is quite a bit better for me and most people on the game itself.

All you can do is tray really if you plan on buying it anyway the price won't change and you'll still have it.

Buy it as long as it is that cheap. Even if you can't run it atm, you will when you upgrade and by then it might be already at 100 bucks..^^ j/k or am I
