gesundheitk 420 Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) Granted, the backstory of how Chernarus had gotten into its state has not been revealed yet (or maybe not even started), but I assume that due to this catastrophic event, the Chernarussian military make an attempt to come to its aid. Another assumption I am going to make is that the Chernarussian military has been supplied with previous Russian military gear, such as the SSh-68 helmet. Now, these things aren't made to stop bullets (might be able to at the right angle), but they are capable of stopping things such as shrapnel (say, from a rocket or a grenade), and help protect the head. There are also kevlar-made versions of these helmets, although I am not sure if Chernarus exactly has those in stock. Nonetheless, I think they are fully compliant with the "story" so-to-speak, and if implemented, should spawn at military settlements, (sleeping areas, armories, etc.), and should be more common than compared to say, an American helmet (that is, unless the story has to do with the US making their own control of the territory?). IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted December 2, 2013 I never did play the Arma2 story, but it's been summed up enough times to explain why there's US/NATO equipment in a Former Soviet Backwater. Basically there was a war there that involved the US/NATO and Russian forces. Think Chenarus was moving to be more 'pro west', Russia didn't like that and moved in, the US didn't like that and moved in too, minor civil war ensues with US and Russia backing their respective sides. The US leaves behind a lot of equipment when they 'end' a war rather than ship it back, sometimes they sell it to the locals (government or civilians, usually deMIling it depending on the type of equipment and the buyer), and that's not assuming for blackmarkets or just lost/looted/abandoned equipment. The same would make sense for Russian forces, not to mention being a former Soviet country they were probably 'issued' (read dumped) to Chenarus or even just stored in warehouses. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
enforcer1975 1111 Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) In the storyline the "main force" of the US only liberated Utes, they never set foot on the main land, only Team razor did. Chernarus was already under soviet puppet command at that time. There are different endings but every one of them ends with the main US forces not beeing involved in the fight, just the locals and Team Razor. UN forces were deployed in the end but if you apply RL to Chernarus you will often enough have badly trained ill equipped forces over there.That's why a lot of players oppose the idea of having the amount of western weapons in Chernarus as it is now in DayZ if you use this as a background for Chernarus before the outbreak. What did the chernarussian army wear before Us style helmets?Plus, these things are everywhere anyway. I have 3 of them. I'de also like to see alot of the Western weapons become rarer or replaced by Eastern equivalent s (Ak-74 GP25 instead of M16 M203, Aks-74u Cobra instead of M4A1 CCO, RPD instead of M249 (but god, please don't fully replace the SAW!) Ect) More civilian weapons like the Toz-194, Remington 870, Browning HP and Svt-40 should also be added, and replace firestation loot to an extent.
