OfficerRaymond 2064 Posted November 24, 2013 Flying a plane is NOTHING like driving a vehicle, you can't compare the two.I think air vehicles have no place in the SA.Disagreed. I think small Cessna planes have a perfect place in SA. Those kinds of planes just give the game a good feel, and would allow us to appreciate the landscape that the devs have created. What harm could possibly be done by putting a 1 to 2 seat plane in the game? Also, the devs could also completely get rid of the parachute crap... or maybe even make them a necessity to find in order to jump from a plane. Which would require you to actually be able to fly and land in order to live. Anything with weapons = no.
Chaingunfighter 917 Posted November 24, 2013 Don't they have Apaches, Cobras, Littlebirds, HMMWVs and Abrams...? Last time i checked they also had M14, DMRs, M16, M4, M107, AS50s and such... But one thing is fact, when not maintained or sheltered from weather effects equipment like aircraft deteriorate fast(er than a tank or UAZ f.e. ).Maybe in custom mods, but the official version only has Little Birds, Humvees and a lot of vanilla A2 equipment because the mod was never expected to be superbly popular and thus did not have a ton of custom development. If you are talking about a real state, then I find it highly unlikely they would use anything above but the M4/M16 and HMMWVs. And it is true that aircraft deteriorate much more quickly than a simpler vehicle like a UAZ (I'm pretty sure tanks break down quickly too), but they can be stored in hangars and most of the parts that deteriorate at a quick rate can be replaced (The chassis of a helicopter will be good for a pretty damn long time). Also, DayZ doesn't give much indication that a lot of time has passed considering the lack of overgrowth on roads and buildings as well as the rather fresh corpses littering the area. wisper 61 Posted November 24, 2013 Forget helis/planes, I wana ride da sputnik! Outer space Gravity-like and back. The tricky bit is to crush within the map again ;)Imo all kinds of air transport should be available, with realistic technical/maintenance issues and flying mechanics. U wanna lift off? Put in the time to service the mashine and crush it 10secs into lift off proceedure... Like this, I bet some people will actualy become profecient with a specific type of plane and become integral to its operation, (since not many others will know how to fly the damn thing). So u want to fly from point a to point b? Be nice to the pilot!

BUT..If it is to be found in the 'wild' in can't start with any guns, adding a LMG placement would require the crafting system and the ammunition must be provided too - this would make it a good 'end-game' type of vehicle while keeping it very rare and hard to obtain with working weaponry. AP_Norris 1018 Posted November 24, 2013 I think with a bit of technical understanding you could get it airborne, the most difficult part is landing and staying in one piece even if you knew a bit about aerodynamics as a layman. It's like wearing a pair or rollerblades barely beeing able to stand, somehow you manage not to fall the 10m you roll down the street buth then a car approaches....HOW DO YOU STOP??? Kind of like that. You probably would've figured out how to stop when you were getting the plane lined up TBH. Hosty 647 Posted November 24, 2013 .. you do know SA is based off the "take on HELICOPTERS" engine...right? Try getting used to how the dynamics for flying In that engine, as its completely different from the simple arma system No it is not, it is a completely reworked Arma 2 engine. The only thing they want from that engine is flight model, that's all. Huey is out of place...something russian perhaps....a huey would not be out of place in Germany or an Alouette since they were used by the border police and the UH1D was even produced in Germany. A UH1 SAR would be the last thing i would want to see in Chernarus...there are enough russian helicopter models in the game.
