ManOpeace 3 Posted November 20, 2013 Ok I am a really way to friendly person to play this game, so I always keep my eye out for hostiles before I enter or leave a point of interest. I scan before running out in the open, and try to stick to whatever cover if possible.I tried to play arma 2 single player and was promptly slaughtered over and over on the first mission.Just was wondering if anyone had some protips for this newbie... Hetstaine 10852 Posted November 20, 2013 seriously but..so am i. I have learnt to come in from a more unexpected route to a trouble spot/area, scan the lamo sniper spots, look for zed activity, dead zeds..signs that someone has been there recently basically. Sitting still in the scrub has saved my life hundreds of times. Patience can be very rewarding :) ..and then sometimes i just run in like a headless chook and hope for the best.
TIC 1050 Posted November 20, 2013 The problem I have with being able to see other people is that those people blend in so easily with the environment, even I have a hard time trying to spot where possible hostile survivors are. As a possible solution; just stare at an area for a few seconds or more and check around trees and bushes. It could be anything between a zombie wandering in the forest or someone in a ghillie hearing your footsteps nearby to take aim and eliminate you. Another thing is to ensure that both your 3D resolution and your native resolution are scaled together. This gives you a much clear image on screen. (Depending on your GPU/CPU and monitor size, this could pose some performance issues for lower-end PCs)

Merc13 11 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) As stated above, matching your monitor resolution to the 3D resolution is the biggest thing you can do to clear up what you see. After doing that I can see guys from much farther away and the farther away you see players in this game the better. Also, you can double tap the zoom out key in 3rd person to get a wider field of view that stays there without zooming back in automatically when you release the key-this seems like a 30% increase in what you can see on the sides. Double tap the zoom in key to cancel the zoom lock, or you can zoom in normally and the camera should go back to whichever position you locked it at when you release the key. For me the default 3rd person camera is too close, so I move it back while moving and just zoom in when I want to look at something. Good luck dude.
