Gable 2 Posted November 13, 2013 Hey guys, I just recently build a gaming PC. It runs most games pretty well. Battlefield 4, and DayZ are the only games that my PC has a problem with. In DayZ on highest graphics I only get 10-35 FPS. My crappy PC before this one even got better FPS than this. Anyway, wondering if you guys could help me figure out why my PC isn't running DayZ well. OfficerRaymond 2064 Posted November 13, 2013 Well... DayZ runs through Arma II, which has some of the worst optimization in gaming. My 3550P and 650 run DayZ better than some people that have 760s and 7850s. It's the luck of the draw. Try giving this a go and see how it helps: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/28160-guide-how-to-set-up-your-graphics-properly/ As for BF4... I can't tell you there. You should be running over 120 FPS on a 1080p, particularly considering that DICE severely optimized BF4 for AMD cards, especially the 290X... Idk man. Check your temps and make sure you don't have a bunch of gunk running in the background.

Are you sure your old PC was running in max settings as well? ARMA II is known for being incredibly taxing and also seems to randomly decide how to perform at times, try out high or medium and report back on your FPS. The most I've heard anyone get out of DayZ on max average is 45 FPS mainly due to bad optimization and what not, so don't expect it to run superbly even if you have an enthusiast card.
Gable 2 Posted November 14, 2013 I run at 1920x1080. Even when I turn down the graphics all the way, the FPS only increases by about 5.It just doens't make sense how my friends have PC's that aren't as good as mine, CPU talking, and they play DayZ better than me. alphamat 116 Posted November 14, 2013 For DayZ(and Arma2) it's obvious by now that any setup can struggle but if you follow some guides (as linked above) you should be OK. Make sure to keep normal temperatures for your CPU and GPU. As for Battlefield 4.. well Battlefield is Battlefield if you know what I'm saying. Make sure to download the latest possible drivers(beta drivers) for your graphics card as it can make a huge difference! I didn't read the article but it might contain some useful information for you:http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9-290-driver-fix,3666-4.html PS: I don't plan on buying AMD crap ever again. Their processors are simply inferior and I've had way too much problems with their graphics cards and drivers.

Does ARMA II itself run fine, or does it affect both DayZ and the main game? Also, are your drivers fully up to date? Have there been any problems with the card overheating or stuttering? Have you checked your GPU usage while playing? Edited November 14, 2013 by The Stoned Wolf

The Stoned Wolf 491 Posted November 14, 2013 Just ran Arma 2 on very high and I get constant 60 fps.Very interesting. I would recommend reinstalling DayZ first of all and see if that makes any difference, that's usually a good place to start. While performance is generally expected to be lower than in ARMA it isn't usually seen of this caliber.
rooneye 135 Posted November 14, 2013 Just ran Arma 2 on very high and I get constant 60 fps. Have you tried different DayZ servers? I remember I used to sometimes go on servers that would drop my FPS way down like that. If you're getting 60FPS in ArmA II then it would seem that there is nothing wrong with your setup hardware wise.
