make time more real for player task

Recommended Posts

map have accurate 24 hour day cycle system, moon phase like real life etc ;)

is unique amazing feature of arma games, all players loving this except guys afraid of night

but everything player doing is no realism time :|

example in 24 hour character need to eat 100 times??? in real life 3 - 4 every 24 hour

fix engine in car 10 second??? - in real life maybe with mechanic tools half hour or more?

put full blood inside player 5 seconds??? I looking on hospital site is say 30 minute to 4 hour for give blood minimum

I don't suggest everything taking exact same time like real life but for sure is improve game if is closer to real life

example

make food require for eat 10 times in day depend on energy use

fix car make so is 3 minute job

give blood maybe 5 minute

I know this is long time and leave players at risk from zeds and other player

IS EXACT THIS WHY I SUGGEST   :D

is add risk to everything increase tension fear factor

if guys want to change engine they need to think where they doing, maybe put guard around for protect,  ;)

same for medic operation give blood, now is become mission

is make task now small pain in ass few second after forget into big problem with big risk need think about solution

what you thinking???

i agree with this, just yesterday i was asking razor if there are plans to make amount you must eat more realistic as when i am out and active, running or biking etc. i don't have to eat 40 cans of pasta and 60 mountain dew, rather only one maybe two each heh

без проблем :) no not much information given, but i think in SA at least will be different - they work on this nurtician system so it must be that you don't eat as much if you're eating the good stuff like meat instead of just can of peas or so

Not every player is in highschool you know, some of us have real jobs to attend to.

As for less food usage, sure, as long as food drop rate is lowered down accordingly.

He's talking about the fact that not everybody has got 25 minutes to fully repair a car, simply because they have jobs to attend.

Some people may only have 45 minutes per day of play time.

Whilst I like the idea regarding the food, perhaps not 30 mins for repairing a car, that's a long time sitting around just watching a character.

Well I already have a job and chores to do in real life, if I want to play a game it's not for sitting there for 25 minutes repairing an engine. As narkoman14 pointed out, if you have an hour of spare time to play your favourite game, you're gonna pick something that doesn't involve waiting for a progress bar to fill for 25 minutes.

Rocket/Dean is very fond of his concept of "authenticity", more realism leading to a more interesting game experience? sure. More realism for the sake of realism? Nope.

DayZ has catered for the casual player for too long now.

did either of you even read his post? he isn't suggesting have things last for ten minutes, the longest timescale he mentions he wishes to be actually implimented is 5 minutes. i work two jobs, spending 5 minutes of a gaming session to do something really is not going to break the bank...

EDIT: "fix car make so is 3 minute job" "give blood maybe 5 minute"

My mom has two jobs and aside from household chores I have more to do than her with just high school and a weekend job.

I'll just leave this here since I think it's relevant to OP. Make sure to read the 2 posts following the linked one (mine and r4z0r's reply). In a few words, this new nutrition/hydration system will be based on calories intake. Something which is going to lead to more eating/drinking since consuming one item won't fill your hunger/thirst meters as it does now. At least that's I make out of it.

more time could be interesting, but not how you say..maybe an average between two different solutions, or a feature to do stuff faster but risking mistakes.

i agree completely about night..and also for hunger..it wouldn't be such a problem if we'd have to eat only once in 3-4 sessions instead of 1-2 every time we play..

I used to play a little survival game where time spent could be adjusted for a disadvantage. You could fine tune how you scavenged for example:

  • Quickly: lesser chance of finding things, more noise, use less time.
  • Slowly: more chances of finding things, use more time, less noise.

You could then use tools, for example:

  • Crowbar: higher chance to find things, more noise.
  • Flashlight: higher chance at finding things, more visible.

You could probably adapt this concept to car fixing for example, get zombie audio and visual aggro involved when the player chose to do things quickly.

obviously stuff taking more time wil keep people far from shooting all the time..repair clothes and clean weapons..

I can definitely agree that we need a more realistic food meter. Consuming liquids should be needed more often than actual food.
