97ADU Doug 103 Posted September 29, 2013 (edited) Hello all, its been a while. Anyway, i thought that after a few months of playing other mods and other games, i'd jump back into vanilla dayz, had a look at the 1.8 patch notes and noticed alot of annoying issues fixed. Eating in vehicles, changing to pilot seat in the chopper etc. However, despite all these welcome changes, there is one addition which I believe has destroyed what made dayz so unique. The new military loot spawns. So I load into cherno, start moving through town and pick up an enfield. Usually i'd be pretty happy to find an enfeild with ammo in cherno on a decent pop server. I then decide to check the fire station. Found an M14 with 3 mags. I mean, what? An m14..... in cherno? A 7.62 cal rifle? A weapon that deals the highest damage per shot in the game? Equal to that of all snipers and some LMG's? In cherno? What? So i did some digging and looked at the dayz db. I then discovered that fire stations are now equivalent to barracks at NWAF. Great. So now there really is no reason to leave the coast. No reason to risk a trip to the hotspots on the map, I mean why bother when you can reach endgame without leaving cherno? So I played around a bit with the m14, going berserker etc. Every single person I came across was armed with high tier mill loot. No winnie's or enfields. Bambi's with starter backpacks with M4's. All varying in make, from a normal m4a1, to an A3 or SD. With the occasional DMR from a rooftop. why? Did people get sick of having to go north to get good gear? Were people whining on here about guns being too hard to find? Iv been out of the loop for a while, Im not QQing here, or screaming at the devs or anything. I just want someone to tell me why they've done this. Am i the only one here that thinks this has broken what dayz used to be? broguenz 333 Posted September 29, 2013 It's a giggle that a 20-30 run north is seen as end game when its probably harder to survive hanging around the shore. Think your stressing over something pretty trivial.
Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted September 29, 2013 I hate to break it to you, but 1. DayZDB is extremely out of date, don't trust any numbers from it.2. Firestations have always had the chance to spawn M14s.

Think your stressing over something pretty trivial. Dayz was about exploring, surviving. Taking calculated risks by heading to hotspots. The thrill of trying to get in and out alive after managing to travel up there in the first place.setting up a base with vehicles and tents stuffed with precious loot found at all corners of the map. 20-30 min run is considered end game? hardly. Any experienced dayz player would tell you that 9 times out of ten going to places like stary would either get you killed, or get you some decent gear. Not all of it Yet your saying that its more risky to stay down south? What is there to lose down south? Beans? And I agree, it is harder to sruvive down south because, as iv said there is now as of 1.8, no reason to leave the coast. I played dayz to explore the huge map and survive it. Not to spend my entire time in cherno death matching. If i wanted to do that, i'd go play an arcade genre game.

The Chance to spawn them, yes they always did have the chance to spawn them. However, now, as iv said, they are basically barracks. So the chance of finding them is exponentially increased. Since then, iv found dozens of LMG's and m14's in fire stations. Along with up to atleast 3 m4's in each one. Do your research, you will find im right. but looking at the responces so far, it seems like my kind of dayz player is extinct.
Dchil 829 Posted September 29, 2013 (edited) Also i have found a M14 with 3 mags in Elektro industrial around one of these buildings in 1.7.7.1. It surprised the f*ck out of me because i was a new spawn and i have checked these spawns ever since. Loot spawns continue to surprise me for as long as i play the game. Arrogance won't yield answers; Plenty of us would agree that the loot is a bit generous if what you say is true. There's no need to be up in arms about it, I'm sure it will be tweaked. What server were you playing on? Edited September 29, 2013 by Chris529

I've played DayZ for almost a year and a half, and I've never found a single LMG in a firestation. Firestations have different loot tables than barracks, and LMGs are not included. Please find some information proving me otherwise. If you have, however, found a firestation with M14s and/or lots of M4s, you've gotten lucky, congratulations. You can't expect to make some point, and get arrogant when people say otherwise. Also, 2, if not 3 of the servers you listed are private hives, and that means they can have altered loot tables. I can 100% assure you the AU46 Weapons+ server has altered loot tables. I suggest you start playing on public hives for accurate results.

Im afraid I dont have a source atm to prove you wrong (EDIT: yes i do, see below), up until the last patch, fire-stations had a completely different loot table system, however, now after the latest 1.8 patch they have as many loot spawns as barracks. Also why the hell are you mentioning AU 46 weapons+? I Dont seem to remember mentioning AU46 weapons+ in my list of 3 servers? How do you mean arrogant? Are you saying you get arrogant and upset whenever anyone disagrees with you? Thats hardly a good reason to get upset my friend. Countless of the people in my clan have come across similar loot in fire stations as I have. EDIT: as taken from the patch notes * [NEW] - New Loot locations (Land_a_stationhouse, Land_HouseV2_04_interier, Land_Mil_Barracks_i, Land_SS_hangar) Edited September 29, 2013 by 97ADU Doug

Think your stressing over something pretty trivial. He is but isn't. A lot of people deal with the NWAF as having a reverence it doesn't truly reserve; the only reason it's any more dangerous than Cherno/Electro is because snipers have safer sight lines.

Their loot tables are different. I suggested AU weapons+ because I was unaware if you were referring to AU46, or AU46 weapons+ (the much more popular server). Mos1ey 6301 Posted September 29, 2013 (edited) I have to agree with the OP a little, I'm hoping the military loot drops will be toned down a little in future patches. Maybe even in the 1.8.1 hotfix, if we're lucky. M14s are one of the most common mili weapons at this point... I currently have 6 or 7 loaded in a ural with about 35 DMR mags from M14s that we found but just weren't worth picking up because we have so many, and me and my friend are carrying an M14 each as is pretty much everyone that we meet in-game. They're really powerful weapons and IMO should be pretty damn hard to find. Edited September 29, 2013 by mZLY

Death_Dealer 3155 Posted September 29, 2013 I also agree with the OP The game really is much more fun when you make weaponry simpler (lee enfields, hunting rifles, etc), adds a much needed survival feel
m.cab 83 Posted September 29, 2013 I hate to break it to you, but 1. DayZDB is extremely out of date, don't trust any numbers from it. I think this is extremely not true. In fact, DayZDB is super accurate. Please name a spawn which is wrong on current map!The only thing which never was right are the vehicle spawns.
Mos1ey 6301 Posted September 29, 2013 I also agree with the OP The game really is much more fun when you make weaponry simpler (lee enfields, hunting rifles, etc), adds a much needed survival feel I'm kind of feeling like the low level military weapons are completely obsolete at this point. I just pick up a Winnie or Enfield and hang on to that until I can find something like an M14, which doesn't take too long. AK-74s and M4s aren't even really worth picking up... Wolfensteinsaurus 2252 Posted September 29, 2013 The type of weapon suited in Chenarus are makeshift, Soviet old farmer weapons. Not Alien blasters.
Mos1ey 6301 Posted September 29, 2013 It does make sense for there to be military weapons due to the airfields and whatnot, I just think there are currently too many and the high end weapons are way too common. I know people weren't happy with how rare a lot of things were in 1.7.7 but I think we've gone too far in the opposite direction.
