Random, literally it should be anywhere in the entire map. One thing I hate about the spawn system in the mod is it's only ever the coast, or if a server has a spawn select it's a city. You should have no choice and it should be possible to spawn in the middle of the woods with no idea where the hell you are.

 

This will cut down on people running back to their bodies, when you're dead, you start over. That is how DayZ should be,

 

I actually love the idea of spawning on the coast and making your way up to the north where the better loot is. Makes the game much much more enjoyable imho. Gives the game another sense of achievement and progression.
