Keep the hatchet out of the toolbelt.

Recommended Posts

As i've understood it a lot of people is unhappy with the hatchet taking up the primary weapons slot, unlike before when it was in the toolbelt. My thoughts were that seeing how the hatchet might atleast be as big as the MP5, it makes more sense for it to take up as much space, than storing it in the slots that holds you compass, map and matches.

Being forced to have it in your backpack would also force the player to make more gameplay choices. Wether to devide you're tools amongst your groupmembers, having it take up half of your back when you're alone or go without one completely.

To me this adds some reality, even though it might be concidered a minor detail. Also i may be out there, so lets here what you think.

I think there should be a small hand hatchet for wood and a larger axe for Zed lopping - one in the toolbox, one as a weapon

Well, technically, a tool like an e-tool or hatchet would be in a canvas sling that attaches to your ruck sack or equipment harness via an ALICE clip or two.

I personally like that some tools are kept on hand in the "tool belt." But ultimately, it's a game GUI-- I mean, think about it... you keep your binoculars on your head, and your watch on your belt. It's kinda goofy.

I expect the complete range of equipment and weapons to be given proper inventory and equipping treatment when DayZ breaks free of the Arma 2 limitations. Right now, everything feels like a mod in alpha...

...see what I did there? :D

Should have made myself clearer. I realise that its just a GUI, but i was talking about the actual size of the object. As of now a hatchet and a toolbox takes up as much space as a box of matches or a knife, since you can carry it on your toolbelt. I just thought that it would make more sense to have it in/on the backback or on your primary slot:P
