Any DayZ Mods That Run Well?... Or the Ones That Run the Best?

Recommended Posts

This doesn't mean run well on your dual 780's, it means that are actually somewhat optimized. Arma 2 is an absolute piece of shit when it comes to optimization and I could only dream of maintaining 30 fps in any mod/map for dayz I've tried even though my specs call for much better. I've tried everything you can think of when it comes to trying to get better frames and not a single thing has given me a single frame... Even messing with the in-game options doesn't change anything by any more than 3 or 4 fps. It just so happens that arma hates my exact computer setup and requires me to spend $400 on a new motherboard and intel cpu to get any sort of non-disadvantageous frames.

Anyway, the only mod I can play without feeling like I'm at a complete disadvantage due to my frame-rate is dayzero. I highly, highly doubt there are any mods out there that run better than DayZero but if you guys know of any, that'd be great. I'm talking mostly about the mods listed in dayz commander and such. Or just the one that you know of that runs the best. Anything that itself has better frames because I've come to accept there's not a single thing I can do to improve my frames in anything arma online related without spending hundreds of dollars.

Runs great offline, arma 3 runs great offline on high, BF3 runs at 50+ on ultra. I notice my frames vary the most based on how many people are in the server. Somehow there's something about the online aspect that (I'm assuming my cpu) just can't handle.

I'm almost always between 15-25. I'd be amazed if I could ever even maintain 30 fps, because that's definitely smooth enough for me to not feel like I'm at a disadvantage. I just don't want to be losing fights just because arma is a piece of shit.

It is not only your pc, but also the servers. Sometimes I get 50-60 fps on a server and on another one 15-20 (same mod).

DayZero is said to be the best in terms of performance...and has 2 maps Cherno (amazingly done) and Podagorsk (some say boring)

ive switched to dayzero cherno these days, im used to 60 fps, on Dayzero im closer to 100 fps...they really really really optimised the game right.

most youtubers say its the most professionally done mod.

huge servers too 60 person on average 24/7

list your specs

i was 2.8ghz i7 930, 30-45 fps....$50 water cooler and overclock to 4.2 ghz...now 40-60+ fps and 100fps on dayzero.

arma 3 is hit and miss, mostly server related problems...like wasteland. but super high fps on other servers and SP is unreal..

Kudos to the map creators of Podagorsk for the effort but it is boring. There's very little to see on it, not really anywhere to go. Once you have some gear what do you do then. No choppers, presumably few vehicles and a small map. Panthera on the other hand is a small map but looks amazing.

Cherno imo is still the best map. plenty of places to go, vehicles if you want them, gorgeous views and it's huge. Podagorsk is like a continually hilly terrain with loads of trees on it, scattered grey barns and 5 small towns.

The area for "the best gear" at the airfield yielded us.... wait for it..... MRE's!!

Yep - all that danger and effort and all we got were MRE's. Now the 6 guys that came there to try and kill us fared worse. They lost all their gear and it was only through them that we came away with anything useful (and it wasn't much) but the fighting was fun. There's one tiny strip onto the airfield island and I suppose everyone goes their to PVP and I guess that's because there's nothing to see or do.

Although you haven't bothered to list your pc spec...or state exactly what vid/config settings you have changed (something tells me you haven't touched GPU maxframesahead etc) you say bf3 runs at 50fps on ultra - sounds like a rather average pc to me.

Upgrade my man. New cpu, mobo and ssd.

If BIS are going to continue churning out badly optimised games can they at least be honest in the recommended specs list and state realistic specs instead of kit that will still struggle with it
