How to stop farming and server hopping

Recommended Posts

I thought of a way to stop loot farming and using the log out move and log in cheat in combat.  Its really simple but I'm not sure if it can be done.

Just have each server create a new character.  One server the character you use would be completely different from the character another server would give you.  You couldn't server hop in battle because you have to be in THE server to change position, not in A server.  Farming wouldn't work because of the same thing. Your characters carry two separate loadouts so collecting a can of beans in one server wouldn't give it to you in another.  I am sure this has been posted before but I think it would work.

That defeats the whole point in the public hive, the entire purpose was that you could log into any public hive server and have the same gear in the same position.

The only way to combat this behaviour would be to implement a lock after you have visited x amount of servers within x amount of time - there is no real other way to do it simply.

Don't see why this would work. DayZ has been taken over by OP Start Gear, PVP spawn with Sniper, AI Bandits, TDM servers. And these don't carry gear over. Even if you do find a server with miniscule start gear, it's most likely unable to carry over your gear

Would cause too much data which has to be saved. I'd say limit the characters a player can use and group up servers to hives f.e. for countries or even regions of the country is too large like the USA. So if a player wanted to play in France he could use a character on every french server and play another on a Polish server.

But i would actually prefer if each server had it's own hive, this way they don't have to manage that much data through the internet and the players actually playing there would be limited to regulars and a few visitors. Of course the data shouldn't be accessible by the admin ( still located on the main DayZ hive computer but locked to the server only since every server already has an ID in there, can be unlocked in case the server shuts down ) to prevent manipulation.

That is THE point.

I guess Rocket has something up his sleeve to prevent combat logging and hive teleporting. At least I hope so.

Not really...a lot of private hives server share the providers hive. So you can still hop from server to server in this "private hive" which is quite misleading. I was hoping the private hive was really private ( every server has it#s own hive ) but i was pretty disappointed after i found out what it really was. And that's what a couple of players also want to be stopped. It's less of a survival situation if you can just hop to a server where there isa lot of food and stuff. Oh yeah and of course it yould also limit pvp since you can't just get your gear on a low/no pop server ( maybe you even host one yourself and keep it night time only to prevent players from joining? ) and hop to another to pop freshspawns at the coast.
