Climbing in SA

SA is going to be hard for many, I was hoping to hear from the devblogs about cliimbing, climbing onto roof tops, up cliff faces, mountain ranges etc.

 

I could see players jumping from one roof to another in an attempt to evade, would make sense, and weight could play a factor with effects to hunger and thirst

 

thoughts anyone?

yes! however i see no land for this...too massive the endeavour (anmiation-wise as well as environmental-wise)

if it is almost impossible to create enterable windows in chernaurus+ this one is most likely impossible.

i suggested something like this some time ago. however such "team animations/mechanics" i saw Rocket posting recently how difficult and dangerous it would be to bring in entirely new animation-trees,,, :/

let's save this for the future..maybe with another map..chernarus has just 1-2 spots with riffs and in urban this would be just an assassin's creed pvp fest (i think)

The buildings/terrain of Chernarus really isn't set up for climbing. Plus as other people said the ARMA engine really doesn't do that type of stuff. However, Rocket has said he wants to make a mountain climbing game so you can watch for that.

Theres a cool new A3 climbing/scaling mod underway, I dont think it unreasonable to make something similar for the mod/SA etc.

 

Ill find and link it in a min.

I'd like to be able to climb up in a pine tree, everybody's too busy looking around to notice a true tree wookie high above ground.

Falling 5 feet = death currently. I've "combat rolled" from the power plant by the firestation at the north-west edge of Elektro to the smoke stack's 1st ring and died from full health. It was pretty damn impressive though. >.>

Honestly, I was expecting this to be a retro "Wall climbing machetes" topic.

Still. Pleasantly surprised.

 

If climbing (scaling sheer walls) isn't feasible, I'd still like to see the ability to hop onto those objects which are vault-height but un-vault-able. (if you know what I mean)

 

That mod LoK brought up would be absolutely spot-on. As long as there's a MAJOR cost to player condition.

Depending on the medical system for SA, we might be able to have "endurance" as a factor of your overall wellbeing.

Most folks will get fairly puffed climbing shoulder height repeatedly. Especially while carrying everything they own on their back.
