Start PvP Raids in DayZ! Create HQ

Recommended Posts

I love DayZ. I understand Rocket checks the forums for ideas. Well here I go.

Modify one of the existing airstrips or small towns to eliminate zeds from spawning there. This allows it to be an HQ for groups/clans of players on each server.

-Clans would set up tents; this is the incentive for other players to raid.

-The location should spawn a vehicle.

-The location should have no supplies spawn within.

-Should be located away from the coast.

-Eliminate the ability to server hop/spawn within the HQ

Also, please consider creating colored arm bands that spawn throughout the map so players could keep track of who is who and other players could possibly use same color armbands to trick others/enter HQ.

Side note: I have recently begun to exclaim in game that "I now own Cherno/Stary/NWA etc." as a challenge. If I had more friends I could actually attempt to hold down a town except the constant respawn of zeds makes it near impossible. It would be nice to have a location suggested above to live out this fantasy.

Thanks Rocket/community.

I don't think PvP deathmatching should be encouraged, even if it's limited to one area. it's just not what the mod should be about.

Then what the hell is it about? Sitting bored in the woods and occasionally collecting beans while avoiding a (literally and figuratively) braindead AI?

DayZ was built on ArmA2, a squad-based tactical shooter, for a reason.

It's about surviving in a world full of zombies first and foremost.

If people just want to ignore the zombies and run around killing each other then they should just go and play regular Arma 2. :-/This isn't supposed to be a PvP deathmatch experience with loot. It's supposed to be a hardcore zombie apocalypse survival simulation.

Yes, PvP encounters should come into it, and yes there should be some killing involved as well as some cooperation, but it shouldn't become the focus of the game.

I'm happy for you that you've found your inner prophet, but I doubt you speak for everyone.

If it is about 'surviving in a world full of zombies', then it's a pretty mindless game, so I contend that no; what you are saying is not true for me and many other players. It might be true for you.

The PVP in DayZ is interesting *because* of the real risk, *because* of the scavenging. Because you worked for the stuff you have, and so did the other guys. There's real consequence to killing or being killed, and that's what makes it fun. Not just shooting people.

Suggesting that people interested in this kind of sandbox PVP with real consequences should 'go play Arma 2' is not helpful, misses the point completely, and is exactly the kind of shitty behavior discouraged by rocket in this thread.

Im pretty sure that what he's talking about is Rockets vision about his mod, as he stated himself, this is his vision and he just takes inspiration from the forums. He also stated that this is a survival simulation (Correct me if im wrong). So according to you we are all playing a pretty mindless game. Me, i love it.

Again, I'm not saying PvP shouldn't be part of DayZ at all. Of course it should be a part of the experience. The tension and uncertainty between survivors who encounter each other is one of the things that makes the mod really interesting.

All i'm saying is that there shouldn't be so much PvP killing going on that it just feels like an open-world deathmatch FPS game with loot.

If people are just ignoring zombies, don't really care about dying because they can just start over, and just want to run around killing other players, then there's something fundamentally wrong with the mod. That isn't quite the case yet, but it will be if the devs start listening to suggestions like the one the OP is putting forward.

The zombies are AI. The AI are never going to be harder or more dangerous than people. The reason zombies are so great on computers is because AI on computers ARE fucking zombies' date=' stupid, retarded.

Have you guys actually studied the classic and recent zombie movies a bit? The romero movies y'all rave about? Dawn of the Dead, the modern variant with 28 days later, the Walking Dead. In every single one, the greatest threat comes not from the Zombies but from the breakdown of society and from the other people. Because they can think, they can plan, they can strategize. The zombies can't. And the people are desperate.

Seems like he's pretty well aligned with me.

Wrong game. You want deathmatch PvP you have to sort it yourself - with added Zeds for flavour.

The more I think about the idea of a safe zone, the more I think it has no point. It is not only the whole "turning that survival game into a mindless pvp game" that stopped me, but the idea that you'd have a place where nothing would happen. Imagine, in a survival situation, a place where a market could be build. No point in that. Surviving, scaveging, hunting, in this mod, is meant for lone wolves or small packs, not huge organisation.

I play with a friend, nothing more, and I just can't imagine this kind of game having a safe zone...
