Why you need DayZ standalone argue points.

I have a problem, the DayZ standalone will be showing up soon and I'm worried I'll be playing alone.

I need to convince a couple friends how the standalone is so much more than the mod has ever been, what should I mention about the standalone to impress my friends?

I have opposite problem... 5 of my friends bought arma 2 just because Dayz and they loved it . At first they all said they are buying SA 100%... right now... they lost faith in Rocket or SA, and said they won't even buy it, we all already have arma 3 and looking forward to Arma 3 mods.

For SA, my friends feel like they are gonna get a buggy game ... with no vehicles or mod support.

I myself (big dayz fan) have my doubts... mainly because Rocket seems lost in all the work... with all the promises, and than quickly changing to "i don't really know"...

SA list of features is very short (compared to mods that you can already play)

I mean SA could sink like a titanic if Rocket doesn't deliver on those few features.... and they have to be spot on, to justify the long wait and the lack of vehicles and other features...

It would seriously suck if the zombies didn't really work properly, or game would eat up your FPS with all the zombies at once on the map ( I am not even sure i like that idea of limited zombies... once you clear places like airfield... there wouldn't be any zombies there, not sure if that is a good thing).

I would say hold on  till after the release before selling SA to your friends... cuz right now SA has only list of wishes... not features.

Well, they are right. At least if they get in the alpha.

Just wait until the proper release, it'll have cars and  no less bugs by then.

Well, for me... I must admit that I am serious Dayz fan boy and I will probably get the SA no matter what. But I have my doubts and I hope that Rocket is really using the support he is enjoying atm and that he is gonna deliver... but it has to be some point in the near future, cuz time is not on his side... mods are gonna walk all over SA if he keeps up this pace ...

Chernarus plus is awesome cosmetic rework... but its still all too familiar chernarus... mods have  Namalsk, Taviana, Takistan, Podagorsk, in arma 3 Stratis and Altis.... and all the vehicles with better physics...

I'll just have to wait until the proper release  to make my judgement i guess... how will zombies or vehicles preform in SA is a big question mark

I think what a LOT of people are missing about DayZ SA is that when the Alpha becomes available it WILL have a lot less "Features" than any of the mods including the current Vanilla version. Yeah, it is going to be primitive compared to them. This is really a "Duh!" moment though and the reason I say that is because instead of working on features they are working on Framework.

Think of building a house. Other people are taking ARMA II/III and the DayZ mod as it exists and are making some pretty amazing houses out of it. They have the breakfast nook, the reading room, the new deck, a family room with an entertainment center, and all that. DayZ SA by comparison has a pretty bare kitchen, doesn't have a deck at all yet, and the entertainment center is only a TV and Blueray player right now. HOWEVER, he has been spending more time building a new foundation. The Mod is stuck peicing on new rooms and reorganizing the space to be different things. The SA doesn't have an indoor swimming pool yet but the foundation was built in a way it can have one.

That is what he has been spending his team's time on, all these new structures and foundations that will let him surpass the Mods in big ways. Many people can't see that because right now we have a structure that doesn't have siding or windows yet and is mostly a box with a roof and almost complete walls. They won't know that instead of drilling holes in the walls and floor to include cable/LAN access the walls have all the wires buit in before the drywalling and just need to be hooked up to a proper router when that day comes.

They no have idea why an object based inventory structure is so much better than what the Mod is basically stuck with. Sure you can update some of it so it functions similarly to SA for portions of it, but without the other pieces it won't be able to do the item degradation portion or maybe not as well. It might not handle containers inside containers as well. I'm not sure how ARMA III handles items and inventory but if it hasn't changed a lot even those mods of the mods might not handle such things.

They have not built FEATURES in full because they have built potential for all new features and expanding existing features. They will be behind the Mods right now, but they are building for the future not tomorrow.

By the time SA is released the momentum of all the DayZ excitement will have waned. The market is almost saturated with zombie apocalypse games most better than the current vanilla DayZ mod. I have lost confidence in Rocket and team to deliver a quality product that is not just more of the same(wash rinse repeat); i might pick up SA on a steam summer sale for $5 next year.

I'm trying to think of ONE zombie apocalypse game that even comes close to Vanilla DayZ mode much less surpasses it.

Agreed.. I'm hoping its released while everyone's playing GTA5. It would be a smart thing to do too keep a lot of people off the initial release like Rocket wants.

They are ignorant as shit, they think there's still going to be hackers.

There will be, but it will be about 2000 times less.

I try tell them this crap! OMG I will just, they should wanna play when that can actually see the game right?

I know a couple of my friends who are like that as well. Most of them think of it as "I don't believe it until I see it"

All I can say is remind them about the special features that a lot of people posted on this topic and when the time comes, you can somehow link them some actual gameplay footage and from there, that'll encourage them to come play with you.

Just remember, The DayZ Standalone will be starting off as an ALPHA PHASE. Which is a project still undergoing some work.
