Quanaril (DayZ) 114 Posted September 1, 2013 The title speaks of itself. Basically your character will be able to lie down on the ground, motionless. I do not know how the current dead body of a player looks like but when you feign death, your character should look like a dead player body. There has to be differences between prone stance, feign death and a dead body. You may not be able to move in this stance. But you may look around to a certain extent. However, when and if you try to look around, your character's head will move and this may be clearly noticed by another player. There may be two options for feign death, if not a fixed one. 1) facedown 2) on one's back Entering and exiting Feign Death stance may take 2 seconds. So you will not be able to stand up instantly. You are not able to loot while feign death. Zombies can still attack you while feign death. Any aggressive/passive animals to hunt or tame(?) will consider you as a dead body and will act accordingly. You can only equip one-handed guns while feign death. When you equip your gun, your Feign Death ends and other players can see the gun in your hand, that is if they are still looking at you or not dead. You may feign death during combat, let's say after taking a bullet in the knee. But accepting the consequences since feign death is not a guaranteed way to escape, but maybe a last trick to deceive your enemy. Your feign death may be discovered by another player within loot range. I do not know if this has been suggested before but I find it quite interesting and I believe this will not be that much of a problem coding wise. This will also bring so much depths in plotting, decieving other players, surviving. Feign death is one of the most important survival action any person can do in battlefield or in a harsh zombie infested post-apocalyptic world. So it would be really great to have it in such a game with so many realistic survival elements. Feel free to add or change any of the principles of the feign death written above to balance it and to avoid it's exploitation.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted September 1, 2013 I think it's been suggested a few times before but not for a while. This one's well thought out though =) And your first post too! Welcome to the forums, good to see another Londoner on-board.

Korsbaek 1778 Posted September 1, 2013 Without death messages it's possible... This. I think Overwatch has a feature like this. It's got something to do with the Turbo button...
Frytek 130 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) I think a lot of people ( if not all ) would shoot or strike every corpse in the head to make sure if someone's dead. So not quite useful it would be in close range. Maybe some kind of hiding from sniper fire that would be,but nothing more I think. Though that's my personal opinion. Chaingunfighter 917 Posted September 2, 2013 (edited) This would be fine if you could only do it while under the possession of a gold pocket watch that spawns a fake dead body after you take any (even lethal) damage, while still allowing you to survive. (Note that using it will remove all of your random critical attacks) Edited September 2, 2013 by Chaingunfighter
