idea for disarm player and make safe situation

you find one sniper guy is hide in bush but he focus too much on town, he don't notice you behind, you aim his head and say in direct...

 

'DONT MOVE BITCH!!!, throw gun NOW or I make brains like soup' >:(

 

  :o this guy don't want this shit so he make good choose, he scroll mouse wheel find option 'throw gun away'  or maybe grenade key if holding gun not grenade ;)

 

now player is disarm and gun is too far for pick it up again and make sneak attack on you :thumbsup:  ;)

Maybe.  I could see some situations where having that feature could screw things up or just be annoying.  I think as of right now, the ability to open up your inventory and drop your gun is fine.  You can just tell someone to back away from their weapons after they drop them.

let's take this from weight of a player's balls point of view:

 

shooting on sight is level 1, you don't really need balls, just a little thinking on the risks , maybe, and just if you are not there to only kos(sorry kos pal :-P) or take some pvp action;

 

talking in direct chat, aiming at someone's head is level 2, especially if you are dealing with a geared player who could be:

a) experienced;

b)attached to his gear a lot;

 

i think that if you are at level 2, it's not level 3 making him drop a weapon and make him turn away from you or walk away from his gear.

 

to support your idea i can tell that in 99.9% of cases i tried that (hey buddy drop that rifle) i had to shoot, so disarming an unwilling guy or even throw him prone could be a good feature for this game..it could be a mess in the already caotic makarov vs. hatchet slaughter though (hey that hatchet is mine, drop it! i've seen it first! etc. etc.)

ok i think we've come up with a compromise its currently working on our latest build we have enabled tranquilizer crossbow bolt to be used with our new tactical crossbow it knocks the player out and gives you the option of searching and removing items from their gear e.g. ammunition etc. I think no-one in their right mind is going to risk going up to a geared up as fuck bandit and politely ask him to drop his weapon and more importantly get in range to use the direct chat feature.

this is a good compromise indeed, like that taser in idk what mod, but a winchester or an enfield are enough to ask the bandit to drop his stuff..you must not be polite at all and more important, as he moves you fuck him..that's how 99.9% of the times i had to shoot..S.W.A.T. 4 taught me a lot about FPS :'-)

I practice the long lost art of being an actual bandit which means hunting, stalking and robbing players instead of KoS and i can tell you i think in the whole time that i have played DayZ 3 people have actually dropped their weapon when you ask them to, the rest will just turn around an risk it for a biscuit, at the end of the day if your getting robbed who gives a fuck if you die.

 

edit: taser is all well and good but what do you do once you've tased them... except kill them to take their gear or warn them when they get up to not move and drop all their shit. I'd rather have the safe option of being able to knock someone out a 200m with a holo scope approach them steal all their shit and then run away. Alternatively if i was a hero i could knock them out take all their ammo and hatchet and safely be able to bloodbag assist them without risk of being back stabbed

If i find a guy in a ghillie lying in wait for maybe 30 minutes or more aiming with a high powered sniper rifle at a town from a certain distance who doesn't notice me there is only one action i will do because there is only one reason he is doing this.

People are going to freak out and accidentally throw their guns down. As much as we can argue the merits of the inherent realism there, it sounds more inconvenient and annoying than anything. There's already a system for putting your gun down; you take it out of your inventory.

Yes, but if you program it into the game to have a particular mapped button (something that isn't used much at all) that throws down your primary weapon, then that would work well :)

 

Honestly, that would work in more than just that robbery situation: think about all the times you want to kill a zombie and there are tons around so you can't shoot them. You have no suppressed  weapons, but you just found a hatchet. How useful would it be to throw your primary down, click the hatchet and silently kill the zombie that is approaching? I know that they have an option to drop your primary and pick up the weapon that you're looking at, but this often has issues ranging from the primary being lost after it's dropped to super slow pick-up time. Basically, a drop button would be useful in the event that these issues with swapping primaries are not fixed :p

the crossbow is rly cool thing.....whats your server...I wanna play there!, but I think it maybe makes it a lil too easy if you can get them incapped from 200m away. Id rather see a "disarm" button that had a hand to hand disarm with a chance to fail....this wap people with no gun would have a way to disarm a highly geared player if they managed to sneek up behind them. Could also present another option when your running around a city and you turn a corner only to be touching noses with another survivor. In this situation one guy may attempt to shoot instantly, but if his gun didn't have enough damage to knock you down you would have a chance to hit disarm and take his gun clen off him :D

 

Obviously this would be short range like say 1-2 m away, could be real challenge for bandits tired of just shoot on sight play.

Why not play some scary noises in direct first?

It shouldn't be on the scroll menu! Knowing me i would sneak up on the ghillie guy, go to switch to a silenced pistol and miss it and throw my gun at his head.
