Get ArmA 2: Free if you want to gauge performance before buying anything. Alienware m14x (2013 Model) LAPTOPScreen Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (1080p)CPU: 4th Generation Intel Core i7 - 4700mq (4-Core 2.4GHz)Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 765MRAM: 16Gb DDR3 1600mHzSSD: Yes (64Gb) Also what FPS would I get on what settings? Thanks everyone! 40+ on med-high settings. If you haven't already bought that machine, I would not recommend it though. Alienware is overpriced junk, you could build a desktop that would max the game out with higher FPS for the same price and probably have a wad of cash left over. Ah, fair enough. xD It depends on the server really, but in a server that's running on a decent machine you shouldn't drop below the high 30s regardless of map position; 40+ in general and pushing 60 out in open fields. Oh really it depends that much on server connection? Maybe Ill just run it on medium to get constant kinda frames because I want to record as well, that shouldn't make make much different should it? monoking 22 Posted September 22, 2013 GTX 765M is on par with the 560TI and your laptop gpu should run on normal fine. I think the 40fps is the minimum fps you can get in town as it should perform similair to 4670k with turbo-boost.U might have to turn down the settings to low to record. Yeah, playing on a bad server can destroy your performance even if you've got a top of the range system. If you set everything to normal and disable post-process effects you should be fine. I'd install the ArmA games and DayZ mod on your SSD and record to the laptop's regular hard-drive, that should minimize the amount of frames you lose. It will still affect your performance a bit as recording 1920x1080 video is quite taxing.

Mos1ey 6301 Posted September 22, 2013 (edited) I think you'll be okay set to 'normal' because you'd be recording to a second hard-drive. You might want to avoid cities (or at least drop your settings before entering) while recording though. and mZLY, thats such a good idea recording strait to my hard drive... maybe i should lower the resolution for recording? Yeah, recording at 1280x720 would probably work better. Edited September 22, 2013 by mZLY

deebz1234 243 Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) Cosmic, your at about 30 fps 20 fps in lag areas.I would get a $50 watercooler and overclock your CPU to 4ghz easily and safely.then you will see some amazing increases. but realistically 20-30 fps isnt the end of the world. Dom,those laptops will barely run the game, i would NOT waste that much cash on those rigs.I bought my asus g73 (3ghz, real GTX 460, top notch gaming laptop)for $600 canadian (thats like 400 quid) on a local trading site (kijiji). try ebay. for that amount of cash, you should be able to get an i7 with a real video card laptop.shoot for i7, gtx 460 or higher, 2.8 ghz minimum. ideal setup for dayz arma 2 and arma 3 is4.0 ghz+gtx 560+ geez for 500 quid im sure you can get an i7 laptop at bestbuy or futureshop no? CPU is the real killer here i was running gtx 570 with 2.8 ghz, max 35 fps. then overclocked to 4.2 ghz and I dont see anything less than 45-50 fps with dayz vanilla. deebz1234 243 Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) check this out http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_udlo=200&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_udhi=600&_nkw=asus+g53&_sop=2 bottom 3 thats a fucking beast of a laptop for that price...also comes in 17" i7 gtx 560 less than 500 quid mine is the g73sw, so only a gtx 460 and i7.and it runs dayz like a dream also these laptops have 2 HDD slots, you can toss in a SSD and improve your experience even more. just be careful what screen you get...some are 1366x768 and some are ful 1080p. youll pay more for 1080p but its worth it. my 17" has the 1440xwhatever and its not as good as it could be. still an excellent screen though.very crisp very high quality...just not high enough res.. Donair 1 Posted September 23, 2013 Hey guys, so I finally set up my new laptop. Its the sager NP 8235 has a 770Mand a i7-4700MQ 2.4 Ghz processor Finally had time to set it up and optimize the settings and it ran the game great. Super smooth in elektro, which I couldn't say for my last laptop. I have a question though. I'd like to create a RAM disk to squeeze that extra bit of FPS. I play DayZ vanilla and Epoch. I have 8 gb of ram, so the ramdisk would have to be about 1.3 gigs total if I were to put both the Dayz + epoch files onto the ram disk. Would this be okay? Thanks
