Ideas for hunting.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I had an idea for animal's in DayZ.

So I was inspired by a mod I got for S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call of Pripyat called Misery mod 2.0. In the mod, you can hunt down mutant creatures and patch up your clothing with the pelts, you can also sell it. Then I saw a few S.T.A.L.K.E.R's who were wearing fur-coats and I had this idea.

Repairing/Creating clothing: You can create clothing with animal skins, each pelt you collect can be used, along with sewing-needles and stitches to create/repair a peice of clothing. The jackets, trench-coats you can create can be modified with things such as steel plates, hydration-pack A.K.A camelbak, inner-pockets and more. The clothing would offer potection against cold, some bites from a zombie maybe. You would need different tools to maintain and modify the clothing. (Sewing kits etc.) Maybe you could create litle haversacks or satchels out of pelts? Maybe an ammunition bandolier

So, please tell me what you think, maybe give some beans if you like?

I think it is a cool idea. I mention in one thread before that maybe looking at farcry 3 for hunting tips will do the job. Hunting certain animals will give you certain gun slots, and ammo packs.

this sounds good, but there's no way it will be in the sa because the devs. will never read this. Sad but true

It's a good idea and if they end up adding it to SA, I think that each skin from animals should have different durability level for clothing and such.

I'd like if you could make little pouches out of animal pelts, maybe even a little water bottle, I've seen documentaries about ppl who live in the wilderness, most of them have little water bottles made out of animal hides.

I think no more needs to be said about this; there's no reason I can see that this shouldn't be included, it's simply a question of development cost and it being worth the time invested and I think it is.

I dont really care for the idea. I imagine rite after a zombie apocolpyse  running out of clothes wont be a problem for a while. Also clothes made out of animal skins wouldnt look anything like modern clothes.

What if you were living in the wilderness, completely self-sustaining? You'd make your own clothing, you'd make whatever you needed to survive, what if the towns like Chernogorsk are infested with infected? Fur clothing obviously isn't going to look like modern clothing, but what if it's x amount of time after the initial outbreak? Clothing'd probably be moth-eaten or looted by survivors. What if you're living out in the wild and want to make asatchel or ammunition belt? You'd use whatever was available. It'd also be a nice kind of trophy, showing that you'd survived a good bit of time. And there's nothing better than crawling through the forest with a broken leg, only to be saved by a man adorned in fur cloths who brings you back to his camp.

This is what I'd do in a real situation.  If I could find a place that would provided clean drinking water and food, I'd stay there the rest of my life or if man kind was lucky, the infection was cured.

I'd probably hide out on Skellig Michael, it's this little island on the west coastof Irelan, it's got these little bee-hive kinda shelters, built by monks, it's withstanded the Atlanti for centuries, my dad owns a fishing thrawler so we'd probably be able to get fish and make trips to the mainland

I have heard that this aspect of the game was to be something rocket was going to make his pet project. I hope we will get something like a lot of the features you guys are suggesting. I really think this will be a huge part of the game for a lot of people, including myself.
