keaton.edgar 0 Posted August 8, 2013 I just bought Arma 2 and OA yesterday seperately after hearing about DayZ. When I'm playing the game, it will be smooth for a coupleof seconds and then the framerate will drop dramatically. I've tried the cfg tweaks, the in game settings and the ram disk tricks. I launch outof Day Z commander. My question is whether or not it's my Hardware? I feel like I should be able to run at least 30 fps. enforcer1975 1111 Posted August 8, 2013 Laptop... A friend of mine has only an i5 with 3GHz and a 6xx GTX in his laptop and it isn't enough to run the game smooth enough on average settings, must be the weaker hardware compared to a desktop pc even if it is the same "type" on the sticker. GrumpyGat (DayZ) 497 Posted August 8, 2013 Yeah your laptop is nowhere near where it needs to be. Try following some guides to get as much FPS back as you can.
Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted August 8, 2013 Language: English (Regional Setting: English) I have located the problem. Jokes aside, you laptop does seem on the weak side. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_2:_System_Requirements
Mos1ey 6301 Posted August 8, 2013 It's true, most laptops are kitted out with sub-par i7 CPUs, average graphics cards and 5400 RPM HDDs. You're much better off with a desktop for running games like ARMA and DayZ mod. That Ben Affleck video is becoming entirely overused. :S OP - I'd drop your res to around 720p, disable anything that can be disabled in the graphics options and set everything else to (very) low and see if you notice an improvement.
