Egg Timers

Recommended Posts

So, I've been thinking of ways to distract zombies. As we've already seen in devblogs or done in the mod, you can use flares, smoke grenades, and radios to attract and distract zombies.

Those of you who have played real ArmA 2, or ArmA 3, and like blowing things up, should be familiar with the way placed explosives work; you set it down, and then can either set a timer at 30 second intervals or use a remote detonation up to 300 meters or so.

Using that system, why don't the game makers add egg timers to the game? Instead of exploding at the end of the count down, however, the egg timer goes off, ringing and making curious zombies come to it.

What else could make noise on a timer?

Also, bicycles with chirpy bells on them.

The hand clapping monkey ...o wait.

That's actually exactly what I want to thank when I escape some zombies.

Can we use explosives as a distraction? Like put a can of deodorant under a trashed cars petrol tank with an egg timer? Or cellphone trigger? Or just right into the car? It'd be far more dramatic, maybe even park it at the petrol station? BOOM! *all zombies shamble towards the giant mushroom could...

Cellphone triggers wouldn't work when there's no connection...

1: Wouldn't you rather save the explosive for killing someone/something? Distracting zombies with it would be a giant waste

2: Right. Cell phone reception.

Suggested in the year twenty twelveteen i believe. But I had trouble finding a thread focused on Egg timers too.

Yea I don't see any problem with using them, they can be both a distraction and craftable item.

After all a bomb is a bigger distraction than an egg timer, there may be times you want to distract an entire town or village of zeds and there might be times you only want to distract a few in a house or a street, rather than alert every player and zed in an 800m radius.

Hello there

Cell phones do have alarms on them which dont need a connection. Whether you can find one with power is another thing...

Wind up alarm clocks would be fun as they dont insta trigger, on would have to set a timer, and also one could factor in a random delay/advance (to signify wear and tear) so one might never know if it would ring on time.

I think any noisy object should be an attractor or the infected. I'd prefer them more noise oriented and somewhat blind (cataracts etc).

Rgds

No cell phones but there's always walkie talkies.

And explosives would alert a larger radius and link directly in players heads to well equipped players and then also good loot. Which means all the bandits would be heading to the other side of town as you along with all the zombies.

And I was thinking for the most part that a small starter IED device could be used to ignite a larger fuel sorce.

The smaller thing wouldn't really be a tank destroyer or anything.

Radio detonators are very dangerous and risky. As anyone with a radio on the same frequency can detonate the thing.

Turns on radio to ask about radio on jerrycan he just found...

But even so its only gotta last a little while before you detonate.

And on shortwave its a 1km radius I think...

Most people are probably just gonna be listening to 50's music around a campfire anyway.

You set it for 10 minutes. It goes off in 10 seconds. XD

Add alarm clocks as well

Yeah instead of a timer, it could be a time and date. Lol

Giving you plenty of time to cover your relations with the crime.

The only problem is electricity. Wall-powered ones would be more common than battery powered ones, and to that end, wouldn't you rather save your batteries for something useful?

Like a red dot? jk, what about these: stock-photo-3179089-old-alarm-clock.jpg

I don't think these use batteries, and I'd imagine they make quite a scene.

Bombs are useful.
