Welch (DayZ) 756 Posted August 5, 2013 yes is true  and also he add somethings new :) is ok share one idea from different placeHe added the idea of another comment that replied to the first idea. And yeah, sharing ideas is great, but if you're going to straight up copy something, you can atleast give some credit.

IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted August 5, 2013 He added the idea of another comment that replied to the first idea. And yeah, sharing ideas is great, but if you're going to straight up copy something, you can atleast give some credit. Not to defend him, since it's more than a bit suspicious that it's word for word, but nihil novi sub sole. I would say about 90% of the unique suggestions (and by that I mean the idea, IE I would only count adding Trains as one suggestion, even though there's probably around 20 topics on the subject) on this forum, or Reddit for that matter, are nothing truly new. I would point to the episode of Southpark where this one kid just kept screaming 'SIMPSONS DID IT!' every time another kid wanted to do something.

RedTailedLizerd 12 Posted August 6, 2013 Nice idea. But please, title our topics appropriately. I have had about enough of people naming their stuff "simple idea, easy implement" or anything like that. This is almost never an "easy implement" and is not that simple. Also I had to enter this topic just to know what it was about!

Tumoa 359 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) Red are you implying a simple "you are here" map is not simple? 0_0modifying map isn't easy thing to do. especially the arma 2 maps Edited August 6, 2013 by Tumoa
Chaingunfighter 917 Posted August 6, 2013 How about also having maps of Chernarus meant to be for specific things, such as finding a map of the railroad tracks in the train stations, or a guide to some hiking trails in the Northern Chernarussian mountains that could be found at a park ranger station or on deer stands (Used previously by hunters to help them find their way around)
King of kong 1117 Posted August 6, 2013 Good idea BUT! It's gonna be in Russian. And BTW add a more descriptive title and tags
Skypill 399 Posted August 7, 2013 The map would probably have to be in russian, but i like the idea.

Perhaps the same thing could be done with all these small 'specialist' maps. Rather than SW Train + SE Train = South Train, more like Train map + Map = more detailed map, IE adding the train map would show stations and heavy industry zones along the route. Bus route would add heavy urban centers (apartment locations and like) A tourist map you pick up at a gas station would add gas station locations, 'hotels', garages, restaurants and stores to your big map. A hiking map/guide might show approx animal locations (kinda like Red Dead Redemption's map decor did) and (non player) campsites and trails.Could also be a way to add 'quests' to the game. Kill a zombie and pick up a handmade map he had, shows the location of a stash he had before he was infected. (sort of like the treasure hunting maps in RDR)
RedTailedLizerd 12 Posted August 7, 2013 Red are you implying a simple "you are here" map is not simple? 0_0Really tht was not the area I was responding to. Simple you are here maps are simple. But I was speaking in general.

Or a button function that will simply <i>copy</i> the bus routes or railway information onto your map.

itsDIETZ 20 Posted August 7, 2013 I think bus stations should have those little "you are here!" maps so that there can be more ways to navigate if you don't have a map or compass and maybe you could find like a small map you can find at bus stops that show you which routes the bus service used before the zombie outbreak PLEASE NOTE : Acording to Welch this is on reddit as well so I give credit to them I have improved the idea a b I love it. Sounds like a great addition.
