The way death is presented overall is pretty underwhelming, actually.

 

You don't even hear your own scream, just silence as you fall down with the screen all fuzzy while the K.O. timer comes up, as if your still alive, only to display YOU ARE DEAD a few seconds later.

 

At least keep your death scream audible and have the screen shake or something, make it more dramatic.
