PLEASE ROCKET OIL RIGS!!!

Recommended Posts

I must say, it's a neat idea, but slightly far fetched.

Oil rigs are not 100% self sustainable, they also require quite the man power to staff/operate the rig. Without the assistance of extra fuel and a full, trained crew, the oil rig would not be able to operate. Also, in the event of a post apocolyptic senario, when rigs are abandoned, wouldn't they be shut down, meaning you won't stumble upon a rig in action?

you would need a big educated crew to operate it. 24/7. it is not feasable for people in general who don't know how to run the machinery. it is a good idea, but you did not think it through.

Anyone see the documentary Life After People?  It was simply about what would happen to our world if we just disappeared. This is what they had to say about oil rigs:

"3 days after people, Almost 4000 oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico continue to pump out oil. They have been running on their own power since humans disappeared but without any consumption the oil rigs shut down. 34,000 miles of undersea pipes clog with undelivered oil but watertight valves will keep the oil from leaking into the ocean.

50 years after people, Five decades of hurricanes have reduced the nearly 4000 oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico to one. The last oil rig is finally knocked over by a large wave.

110 years after people, The sunken oil rigs have become new ecosystems. They have become artificial reefs teeming with life."

So they run by themselfs? Why are there workers on them?

No w8 they shut themselves down? I'd think a good exploration of the rig should unveil some small secrets to keep it in shape.

Yeah, Rocket did a lot of addon making, you can find a lot of his work on Armaholic. An oil rig was one of them, I believe it's the same one that's used in Taviana.
