Why so little FPS?

Recommended Posts

When I first got my computer I could run dayz at high about 40-45 FPS and very high at 35. Now I can barely get 30 on normal

SPECS:

GTX 560m

8gb ram

i7-2670qm CPU @ 2.20GHZ (8 Cores)

1000 gigs of space

Does anyone know why?

Is your system running hot? Is your case clean? Are vsync, AA, and PPAA disabled? When is the last time you did a defrag? Have you changed anything at all since you have seen the FPs drop?

Edit: 30 is playable, your GPU beats mine, however... I'm not sure about that i7.... I can't find any bench info on it so I couldn't tell you, but that probably has something to do with it.

I do a defrag of my system everday. Both of my hard drives. My hardware does get hot a lot on arma. My cpu can get to 144F and my GPU can get to about 140F

Only way I can think to cool my hardaware down is to add another fan inside

Laptops have a bad habbit of downclocking itself when heat become a issue, its summetime and temps are abit higher now.

Cleaning (dusting) youre comp/fans with some compressed air or youre vacuum cleaner can solve the heat problem.

You can also check "Control Panel--->Power Options--->High Performance" is checked, and always play with the powercord plugged in.

Defrag youre hardrive will help, theres NO game who are so hardrive dependent as Arma, its a fact.

Arma 2 and Dayz is running best on a HIGH clocked quadcore cpu and a SSD.

I you dont know, leave it until you know better. Some laptops are not easy to clean out without removing some parts (backplates/batteries..so on)

BUT, if you can monitor youre temp while playing, it could give you a clue IF you have a heat problem.

Download HWmonitor: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Its a small app, it will monitor youre cpu/gpu temp, leave it running while you play.
