I can never truly become a bandit...

So I have decided to go for a sort of bandit-style playstyle. I rob people, kill if it's not possible.

 

Ive now played for 7 days with this playstyle, but guess what... I've never gotten a proper kill or robbing. I always get revenge kills in self-defense, never have I started the battle against an innocent survivor. For example, I have gotten around 3-4 elektro sniper kills, but they always shot at me, and they are bandits, so yeah, no banditry there. Ive got around 4 murders, but 1 of them was a fresh spawn who kept trying to steal my M40 from my backpack, so I had to shoot him (Not really banditry since I did it to make sure he wouldn't kill me, not for loot)

 

The 3 other survivor kills was some maniac who ran at me with a hatchet and these two survivors (One of them being a "hero") who had a car, and they didn't want to give me a lift (They just stopped, used the car horn, and when I got close, drove away and made a retarded laugh) and then they came back, and were looting the hospital. I stole the car, hid it, and went back to the city to loot for more, when I notice them. They notice me and start shooting a lot of shots at me, and I tell them I didn't steal the damn car (Lie). One of them sees the car somehow (?) and drives it to me and his buddy, but he ejects for some odd reason and breaks his leg + is bleeding. The car continues and crashes into his friend, making him unconscious.

 

I saw this as a perfect chance, and proceeded to hatchet both. I took the car and their stuff, and drove away to Krasnostav, where I get killed by a bandit clan. I'm not exactly sure if this was an act of banditry, or just me getting my revenge.

 

Ive even been recognized on some UK server as "Hero of Elektrozavodsk" for helping beach crabs and sniping Elektro campers :(

 

What should I do?

is OK what you doing, is just take some time for learn new system :)

 

is different thinking style, these guy who make attack on you, they do without think, is natural way for player hunting, but first time they try this is same like you :thumbsup:

 

first thing is look always around, never stop to look everywhere, is most important thing

2nd don't get nervous, stay always calm, when fear is come (in dayz fear is come always) don't panic, remember fear is good friend, he make you react fast and more alert for some threat, remember you know this shit too much, enjoy adrenalin and don't worry for survive - only think 'how I kill this guy'   :ph34r:

 

3rd keep practise and learn from mistake, if guy make nice kill on you try think 'how he do this?' if you miss one kill don't worry what you do wrong, see it forget it and just focus 'what I can do better next time?'

 

#4 reward for success, when you make some nice kill, maybe 3 guys with pistol or whatever make nice reward like one beer or something you enjoy too much, is true brain/body is remember this and try to make repeat, is secret knowledge this shit ;) no reward if you play shit, is double important for improve fast

 

#5 don't give fucks for fight any guys, make finding one player to kill #1 priority, when you make nice kill sip some stella beer. is reward time :D

Thanks for the tips, the problem is not how cautious or how I fight in combat. I usually win in around 85% of encounters, even though I'm outnumbered, have worse weapons etc. but that's because I have spent around 1000 hours on ArmA 2.

 

But yeah, the fear is a big problem for me. There is much more to lose if you die in DayZ than in ArmA 2, which always makes my heart rate go up to such a big amount that I cannot properly think. I guess I should just learn to stay calm.

 

The actual thing I would need to learn though is how to properly hunt for players. I don't know how to properly stalk someone without losing him, I don't know how to deal with groups in DayZ (I know how to deal with them in ArmA 2, but in DayZ its different due to double health, less ammunition, and zombies).

 

If you have any tips on actually finding players and stalking them it would be appreciated.

is show too much player activity, find one red zone place and stay there till you know 100% every house every bush, make like home :) I am do this with arma 2 editor so I don't worry for die respawn bullshit

 

find best place for watch and hide. focus direction of other red zone place, is where most player is coming from for sure :)

 

after this watch some players, what is #1 popular direction, what is busy area? how I can see this area but stay hide from players?

 

think like players, do they come here for pass through? or for one building? why they are here? maybe you make guess where they going next for make some ambush  :ph34r:

 

one more good tip, look again the map...

 

find 2 red spot too close like starry and NWAF, is one area between this very good for hunt players, I call this 'idiot path' :D is plenty good place for hide like walls and trees, is big open space and some guys never try stealth way. ;)
