Just today, I found a heli, and was stoked. As I was making my first landing, I didn't turn my auto hover on. About 30 feet off the deck, I pitched forward to land in a better spot. I think you can figure out what happened next...

Ran after someone who had a shotgun with pellets while I had a hatchet. Quick turn and I was dead. Thats what happens when you underestimate the double-barrelled.

Playing Origins (anything non-vanilla I play as a bandit).

Find an AKM and some other basic gear.

Start stalking two players moving South out of Mitrovice.

Stay just inside the tree line while the two idiots I'm stalking head south a little ways out of the tree line, super exposed.

Too focused on them, don't notice their third teammate above me further up in the trees.

Get brutally murdered by an M4 or some other stanag weapon.

Respawn and somehow end up respawning about 30 feet from where I died with all three of the players busy looting my corpse.

Somehow still have all of my gear as well.

Whip out my AKM.

Raise up the iron sights.

Forget the AKM has zeroing

Wanting to be bad-ass and figuring I can't miss at this range, I fire off shots directly at their head-level.

Miss every single shot over their heads.

Get absolutely annihilated as all three of them unload their clips at me.

 

I didn't use iron sights for a long time after that...

If you switch off the engine and have a little common sense you press the increase thrust button instantly.

Unless you intend to regularly kidnap people and throw them out of airplanes... Then it is a brilliant option to implement...

Running into the small log house with one entrance and having about 10 infected doing the conga line, especially when you've been playing for over a year and know every building like the back of your hand.

The worst part is it only happened a few hours ago. :facepalm:

 

Another one would have to be the selecting of throwable objects with a frag grenade in my inventory, bouncing it off a wall and straight back at me instead of a bottle or can. :facepalm:

I was playing Origins yesterday and picked up an SA58V with a sick sniper scope on it (first time I'd found one with that scope).

Was heading away from Novy with my newly found weapons when I hear a vehicle headed to the military camp.

Double-time it back to the military camp while staying in the woods on the hill above.

Watch a player loot around the camp for a minute while I catch my breath.

See that the player is a bandit, ready myself for the kill.

Player stops moving for a second to pick up some loot.

Squeeze the trigger.

Once.

Direct hit.

Expecting to see player drop but instead watch as he sprints behind cover.

Fuck.

Remember I'm using an SA, not a sniper rifle.

Should've just turned the gun on myself right then.

Instead I tried to flank left behind the barn.

As I'm sprinting to the barn I see in the bottom left of my monitor : "4 minutes till server restart".

Fuck.

What do?

Watch the military camp for a minute or two. See no movement.

Figure I'd rather disconnect in the woods somewhere than disconnect in the open behind a barn.

Sprint back to the tree line.

"1 minute until server restart"

I'm about 10 feet from the tree line.

Player back in military camp fires off a dozen shots in my direction.  Sounded like AK. Three of the bullets land home.

I die.

The server restarts.

realization of what just happened settles in.

Commence facepalm.

Two other people and I had AS50s with a decent amount of ammo and gear decided it would be fun to run down sniper hill in electro doing rolls while another person shoots near them to mess around. The other two people didn't get shot at all while we were messing around. Right as I am about to do it for the first time, I say "watch, it's going to be me that ends up accidentally getting shot and dying". Can you guess what happens next? Oh, and did I mention that this was on a live stream too?

I have done a variation of this facepalm moment several times but the funniest of the bunch was when I was fully geared at the warehouse firestation in Elektro waiting for a buddy to gear up in the city. I was providing overwatch from the roof and was crawling along a ledge. Looked around and instead of hitting w to move forward I hit e and rolled off the roof right in front of my entire group.

Have also dived to prone off of roofs and rolled off before, this was the first time I had an audience though.

I was at one of the castle places yesterday. I went up the wooden stairs to the top, full well knowing there was a zombie there. He aggroed, and I accidentally clicked V while attempting to run back down the stairs. I then somersaulted to my death.

Accidentally started throwing a grenade (Damn you fire mode) and pressed nothing, hoping it would cancel the animation. My guy threw it right in front of me, so I ran and got knocked out from the blast + bled out.

Couldn't get wood were I was (trees were thin), had to wander off about 200 meters away. Got back, couldn't find my dmr. Spent half an hour prone looking for it. No luck.
