New player here, and wondering

So, I've seen many YouTube videos on this game, and... It just seems... Like so much damn fun. I'm just asking if it's worth getting. I mean, I have to buy Arma 2 and the other expansion for it, which won't be much, but still... I don't really like getting games that I have to pay for, and later on noticing that it isn't worth it at all.

OK 3 things you must know

1.A standalone version  is coming out and if you are buying arma2 to play dayz, make sure you will like arma2 and wont only get it for dayz or you might feel cheated when standalone comes out and you have to pay for it.

 

2.can your computer run it?

Arma 2 is such a resource  hog,make sure your computer is good and can run it.

 

3.It is not how the video makers make it seem.

you will die lots and the game is not easy,you dont get snipers for many hours and you wont find cars and guns in 10 minutes.

so make sure you are ready for a hard game.

 

other then that just make sure your computer is good and that you know how to install it.(get dayz commander it is the best!)

Dayz commander huh? What's that? And I looked through the requirements, and my computer is more then enough to run it. :D. What's standalone? Is it another expansion of DayZ?

Well Dayz at the moment is a mod using the Arm2 engine. Dayz standalone is a game currently development

Arma 2 is a great title to have in general!

I suggest getting your ass to Steam Summer Sale!

I thought i saw it for like 5 bucks.

Of course to get Dayz you need Arma2 and Operation Arrowhead. <--  (DLC)

Just go up to search bar in Steam and type in Dayz it will bring up the content you need to run it.

 

Just remember Dayz is just a mod to ARMA 2.

Dayz will be its own separate game here soon.

I'm downloading Arma ll now, then I'm downloading OA. Question: Do I need to download OA's beta? Or is that just their for no reason? And Steam Summer sale... Thank god that's there, or else I wouldn't have gotten that pack for 16 bucks! :P

I would get it but also remember Arma 2 and OA are both good games so play those to but standalone is coming out soon but when youtubers play it they make it look easy -Goodluck

I'd argue DayZCommander is much better for DayZ. Playwithsix is good if you play many different ArmA mods, personally I find PWS to be really confusing in terms of the UI/layout though.

Ah, I see. Well, I'll probably stick with DayZcommander until I get the hang of things.

At this point, I'd say it's worth it, but I don't know your funds.

 

If you don't plan on playing ArmA itself, then I would lean away, as the SA alpha should be rolling out soon (hopefully). But if CO goes up during the Summer Sale, snatch it up.

Arma II and it's add-ons are worth your time and money, if you are interested in DayZ. You should check out some custom missions+ mods for Arma II if you have the time.

And yeah, about watching those popular videos of DayZ: Like all entertainment out of your television, those things are most likely scripted as well.

ok dude even after the stand alone comes out you can still play wasteland, city life, takinstan life and many more mods for the game and a tip to make everything easyer would be to download dayz commander
