The range of voice in direct channel would depend on how loud you speak, example, you would be shouting, people maybe 400 meters away would hear you, and if you whisper only people in range of 5 m would hear you

Shouting is optional, you don't have to.

It would just add more realism to the game, which is great.

if you can turn it off it would be fine because no not everyone wants to yell all the time. The last thing I need is the neighbors calling the police at 3 in the morning because they heard me yelling death threats at people.

If this was implemented i would have to walk into the 5m range just to have a conversation, and that is hard when that said person is trying to shoot me.

I'm not sure how it would work. You could set up your mike levels and speak directly into it to have a booming God voice and annoy the hell out of everyone within 500m, without shouting. If it wan't volume related then it'd have to rely on speech recognition or vocal tones etc and that seems a bit of a way off.

Yeh, some of us old gits have wives, kids girlfriends etc. that enjoy sleeping. It can be hard enough to find some precious gaming time as it is, when I disappear to my man-cave sanctuary it's to escape the world for a bit. If I have to start screaming into my mic at 2 in the morning it's never gonna go down well.
