Yea I already suspected sneaky killers who have already tried to lure me to help me but I have a feeling at least one was genuine and I ignored him.

So I finally made it to Stary. I found a car not long ago then a tractor then a humvee! All within 2 mins.

I'm just driving around around Stary looking at it for buildings that might produce fruits.

Pro tip: In Arma 2 (NOT DayZ) you can try ANY gun you like in the armory. You dont have to find it in DayZ to try it.

Yep. That's what I've been doing "since the infection." With just a couple other players on the server you don't need to worry about PvP and can just concentrate on avoiding infection.

But damn if I didn't join a server with one other player and in Cherno heard gunfire.

So to be absolutely safe join an empty server. When gearing up I set my limit at 4 others, but do empties first.

Just tick all boxes on the left in Commander, set the drop down to "DayZ Only," then sort by players.

I don't use Commander to launch the game, but type the server name in the game's Multiplay filter.

Seems Commander will launch the game every time you double click a server, and it's a looong loading game.

You'll find many of the servers displayed won't work for you, for various reasons.

Some aren't official, despite Commander displaying them.

Some are whitelist, despite the Commander "Hide Locked" being ticked.

Some won't connect.

Some are laggy as hell.

Some will kick you for BE restrictions, even if you're all up to date.

Sometimes a BE kick won't happen every time.

What I do is make a list of go/nogo in notepad, because I don't want to waste time.

There's plenty of vanilla "official servers" out there, so it's easy to find low-pop servers.

Especially at certain times of day for certain servers.

@OP I think you'll discover soon after you find your hallowed sniper rifle that you were better off with an assault rifle. Sniper rifles are great in the hands of a skilled operator, but get your range wrong by 10m your going to miss and most likely die.

I would highly recommend ditching the PvP server. Starting with all that gear is robbing you of so many possible fun moments. I remember a great video posted by one of the bandit clans on my server. There was 4 of them tooled up in a Little Bird and they paradropped to try and kill an unarmed new spawn (Member of their big rival clan). Said new spawn ran into a building and found an Enfield and killed two of his pursuers before being overpowered.

Sniper rifles in my opinion arent worth it.

The audible range is way too wide so you pull more zombies than you have ammo for.

The assault rifles are far more rewarding. Heck I usually walk around with a PDW and a crowbar. The PDW is a beautiful gun because it can use any clip as long as the rounds are the same size so it's flexible and easy to find ammo for.

Well obviously snipers rifles are meant for killing players not zombies. In fact I would argue that you should avoid using any primary that isn't silenced on zombies because it will likely create more problems (in the form of both additional zombies and players) than it solves.

Wait, there aren't any silenced SRs?

Ditched the PVP servers. It's frustrating starting over and over repeatedly but it's still fun in it's own way.

Also, I must have been on servers with reduced infection because the official servers I play on have dangerous zombies.

Also, I have a wonky method of respawning after a death.

Die.

Wait a few moments while pressing ESC to get menu.

Menu shows up.

ABORT

(YES OR NO? TO LOBBY) YES

DISCONNECT

OK

That's the clicks involved to respawn on same server. (for me)

If I wanted to leave, I would do the same but instead of the last OK, I would click DISCONNECT to quit server and get to main menu.

Is that how everybody else has to do it?

So I spawned in airfield which I suppose is right by Balota. Lucked out, found an axe and headed to the hangars.

Only 6-7 other players on the server. I found a bandit-clad player standing with their pistol out not moving.

I have seen this before but still, I attacked them instantly because I had aggro on me.

The player wouldn't die. Then I realized they were already dead, but standing up.

Anyways, I didn't catch the name when I studied the body. I looted their backpack and a bunch of goods and took off north.

Why was that player standing up dead? Is that a glitch?

Somebody duped his own character (by accident or on purpose, I can't tell) on disconnect. You can't find the names of duped bodies.

Oh, and yes, that is they way you respawn.

I'm the same way. I think id enjoy the game more without side chat though, ruins the immersion. "Who is shooting ____" "who is in that heli?" etc

Is that how everybody else has to do it?

when I leave I just do esc and then alt f4. I hate all the clicking involved

I'm still alive! I looted some dead bandit who had a lot of stuff and I'm making my way north of Balota. Might hit the deer stands but what I really need is to fix myself.

I was attacked by Zs in Balota and I couldn't stop the bleeding with 2 bandages.

Bled til 1/5th left.

Scary that it wouldn't stop. I was prepared to go die somewhere I can remember and find the corpse to loot.

Thankfully I'm still alive and I have a blood bag I think I need another player don't I?

"Self Blood Bag" is something a private server would have.

Anyways, why did I keep bleeding after? There was no blood animation. And what do you suggest is my best bet?

Hunting animal for blood? I stole knife off bandit.

I'm actually dead. When I alt-tabbed back after my recent post, I found I had no blood left and I was crawling. So I figured out where I was and crawled to a bush and logged out. Suppose I go back and die and run straight for that bush.

Is that how it works when one dies if no storage is deployed?

Because I found my own body from a while earlier and looted it. I'm sure I can find it again while trying.

I wonder why I died though. Temp was fine.

Sounds like a desync on the server. one bandage will always do the trick. You will still need matches to crank a fire to cook the meat. Get hunting those animals, canned food or mre's are a slow way to gain blood :)

Yes coughing and I tried to recover with sardines. Waited until arrow pointed down then ate another can. Pretty sure I recovered nothing or it re-bled out.

Sadly, no antibiotics were looted however I am geared enough to make it granted I don't get clipped.

Am I going to die or can I am just a one-shotter now?

Should I just die close to beach, hidden and loot myself?

Or try to live if I can? Because I am still alive.
