gummy52 57 Posted July 2, 2013 If someone complains that someone is hacking don't feel safe that they're innocent simply because you've checked logs and information about scripting. We've reached a point where script injecting is bound to get you caught, and less and less cheaters are opting to do so. More and more are simply performing memory hacks, which you can't catch with logs.Recently I've been put in situations where someone is shooting infinite bullets, teleporting around, etc, and when I petition a server admin they report that the logs look fine and that I should not make false accusations. Suffice to say, that is frustrating. If cheaters are the opposition, then you, server admins, may find this quote interestingThe way I understand it is that generally scripts that are run are logged on the server so an admin can see what you’re doing, and making bypasses is just so pedantic and pedestrian. When I first started running hacks in DayZ I made a script that drew a really basic radar on my map screen and it worked great! Then I used someone’s gun box script and got banned. That’s when I started looking into radars and the less risky read process memory based hacks. This is a quote from a 60 page thread with over 70k views that explains in great detail how to memory hack safely in a sub-forum called "ARMA 2 & DayZ" that averages well over "(943 Viewing)" at any given time. To put that in perspective; at the time of this post at 3:51 PM EST there are "922 users are online" on the official DayZMod forums. There are more people reading about how to hack in DayZMod than there are people reading about DayZMod itself. The bottom line is... the majority of hackers are simply using locations hacks, otherwise known as "ESP". I assure you that the number of people using ESP hacks is alarmingly high. Needless to say, it's safer to err on the side of caution and assume everyone is guilty until proven innocent. Even then, I've been witnessing people intentionally letting themselves be killed (after stashing their important items) if they fall under suspicion.

creature 1189 Posted July 2, 2013 Unfortunately, as a server admin, we can't just take a players word that another is cheating. If we start banning players because another called hacker, there would be no players by now due to MANY false accusations. If we use the tools that would allow us to see evidence of such, we are called bad admin and will soon be accused of using said tools to our advantage. Moral of the story? Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Just because a lot of people are viewing a thread in some forum doesen't that mean that those people are actually using this stuff (Maphack not ESP). A minority of the people viewing this forums/ thread have an idea how to actually create something like this.
gummy52 57 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) Here's the real point. The majority of hackers and people making hack tools are no longer interacting with ArmA 2 scripts, and this new trend is relatively new over the last two months.I'm not necessarily suggesting that every person hacking has made the program they're using themselves. I am suggesting that more programs are being made because the thread explains how to do it in Visual Basic.I choose to assume that everyone has one of these because I think many, many people are very smart and capable. The rest is up to opinion. Edited July 3, 2013 by gummy52
OrLoK 16182 Posted July 3, 2013 Hello thereAny admins worth their salt will not just take logs as total proof.RgdsLoK
terrorizer33 131 Posted July 3, 2013 We've banned some1 once by trapping him. Took us about 4 hours and alot of backtracing in normal arma. A tedious but sometimes necessary process. Logs indeed dont always say everything and its definately up to the keeness of the admins to work things out with all means available. Going on accusations from other players is not how thongs should be dealt with in the first place imo.
