Installtion Issue

This isn't an installation issue for me, but a friend of mine who just bought the game.

I don't have his specs handy, but I believe they exceed whats needed. I can provide that information later.

He bought this through Steam, like I did.

Once he was all installed, got dayz commander going, put my server IP in and joined...he got this:

He removed said files and can log in and play on my server but his FPS is super duper low. Like 7-15. I had him optimize his in-game settings with little improvement. Nobody else on the serv has FPS numbers that low.

I'm thinking, he screwed up the installation of Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA? I've never heard of having to remove files for the game to work.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated...

c+p'd from my multiple other steam/dayz commander problem threads lol

install Arma2

Install Arma 2 OA

install Arma 2 OA beta

install any Arma 2 DLC

Install DayZ mod (steam version from the store)

exit steam

right click - run steam as administrator

run Arma2 to the ingame menu

run arma2 OA to the ingame menu

run arma2 OA beta to the ingame menu

run every DLC to the ingame menu

Launch DayZ mod using steam and it will prompt you to play DayZ woth OA beta patch, select this.

DayZ commander often has problems with steam, especially with steam version of mod, try this just to rule out DayZ commander.

Here you go. This is the best way to install all arma 2 games and dayz, and this is also the best way/ easiest way to keep updated. Plus you don't have to launch it through steam.

first delete everything, delete it through steam, then open regedit and delete these files HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bohemia Interactive Studio. then look in your files for arma 2 profiles and delete those. ensure everything arma 2 related is removed. then run windows update, to make sure you are update to date on most Net frames and all kinds of other crap. restart your computer.

Then open up steam do not do that run as administrator crap. just open steam, right click arma 2 click install. in this order [ Arma2/ Arma2 OA/ Arma2 PMC/ Arma2 BAF ]. once you have done that. close steam out completely. Re open steam and right click arma 2, select play. Wait till you get to the main menu, then exit. (Do this to all Arma 2 related games in your Library) IN this order [ Arma2/ Arma2 OA/ Arma2 PMC/ Arma2 BAF ]. Once you have done that.

Open/install Dayz commander. Once either one of those are done. click the install/update make sure arma 2 beta is updated first. once you have updated the arma 2 beta patch you then go into your settings tab (in Dayz Commander) Make sure your Direct3d 9 box is checked, close dayz commander(after joining a server) is checked.

Additional launch parameters: "-winxp" "-nosplash" "-Maxmem=2047" "-world=empty" "-Cpucount=number of cores you have(example i have a quad core so i put "-Cpucount=4") ( more information here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma2:_Startup_Parameters)

make sure the arma/dayz directories are correctly placed,then you install Dayz. Once dayz is installed. you open up your servers tab and select a game, and join.

He never deleted them, but moved them into another folder. So your saying just put those files back in their place and rerun A2 and Ao2 to the menu's?

if you having problems and would like it fixed download and install team viewer. I can install Gamer'sgate dl's, Steam Dl's, Amazon Dl's, physical installation even mixed setups. to try and walk you through it over VOIP or through the forums would take way to long, I can also create a install sheet telling you exactly what to do. If you follow it to the T, you wont have any issues, thought i may not have the time to write that out, or i can even completely uninstall my arma 2 setup and make a video of it from start to finish and u can see exactly what i do. thought i would not like to do that but thats as far as im willing to go to get this shit solved, not only will the video help you but many others, so yea.

Seriouly have a look at what is is required to play on this server?

They are ALL expansion addons, he needs to launch the right arma2oa.exe

"C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" "-mod=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion;@DayZ;" -nosplash

or something like that =)
