a SIMPLE guide to getting the most FPS

Recommended Posts

The post was rather long and I don't have time to read it all but if you go into the config file there are two values you should set to 1. One is something related to the gpu with a default value of 1000. Set that to 1. The other is something related to how many frames it should draw in advance or something. The default value is 3, again set it to 1.

Hi I'm new I've yet to download DayZ mod I have only downloaded the game so far doing the tutorial I am lagging very hard but I am defragging, updating graphics cards, and doing as much as I can I don't know why but I usually lag on steam games but I can run League of Legends on High pretty good but here even on everything low I have trouble..

My CPU is 2.6GHZ and my GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce 9100

Well for one the game engine itself is a huge limiting factor. I need more info on your CPU but I'm going to guess it is pretty old as it is paired with a 9100. I am sorry to say your system may just very well be too old.

heres my tips stop trying to play on dualcore pcs and buy a modren day gpu not a 8800 gt or below

play on a quad core newish pc and a decent mid range newish card problems solved. there is no magic fix if your pc is too old.

Still a lot of unpublished features. I would love to help you create an ultimate guide to FPS increase, if you'd be interested in a joint effort let me know.

I'm playing on a duel core and getting 25-40 fps in the middle of cherno, you can get good results if you get it set up right, and of course overclocking helps.

You are recommending folks to vacuum their computers? My god.

You might have post processing on, if it is disable it, it might help but with only 2.6ghz you might want to consider overclocking, you should be able to easily get it over 3ghz which should make a big difference. though dont do it if you're not sure, or not willing to risk ruining your cpu.

one thing that hasn't been said is getting an ssd drive. this is probably a bit cheaper than new gpu/cpu. this helps with load times especially approaching big cities...however sabina laughs in the face of fast i/o :D

the other option would be to load up as much of the game as possible on a ramdisk, you need at least 2+gb ram to spare for this

i just went from asus 660ti 2gb to evga 780 sc acx this week. 20-30 fps increase in all areas, have turned some more up to very high

rest of rig:

i7 3770k @ stock 3.5

16gb gskill @ 1600

120gb ssd

drove into elektro in v3s on busy server earlier, as i went past hospital and office junction i saw 23 fps from fraps haha

i5 3570k @ 4.0ghz - Sapphire 7970 ghz - 8gb 1600mhz ram.

recommend settings?

--------------------------------------------------------

EDIT

--------------------------------------------------------

Fiddled with the settings, and tried the 2nd option that the OP posted.

Before i had medium settings and a very laggy game @ 45fps

Now with these settings i have a very smooth game @ 45-60fps

So pretty much I need a new computer/laptop for this game..damn.

You CPU is ok but your graphics is an integrated card which works as part of your CPU.

Is it a tower desktop you have? You could do with getting a dedicated graphics card and installing that instead, if you have a normal tower they just click in to place inside.

Even something like a £30-£50 dedicated card would improve your rig heaps compared to what your using now.

My rig:

AMD FX-4100 running at 3.8Ghz

8GB RAM @ 1866

GTX 660 3GB with a small OC

7200 RPM optical HD

Windows 7

I've gone through every friggin tutorial and guide to maximizing FPS and I still get 5-15 FPS when running around in Elektro.  And only about 25-30 outside of the cities.  I've tried putting the load on my CPU and on the GPU, and there seems to be almost no difference.  I assumed it was pretty much the same for everyone until I was Het's post.  He's got a pretty similar set-up in terms of speed but seems to outperforming me in spades...

I need help :(

EDIT2:  If anyone is using an AMD FX processor, they should add -cpuCount=2 to the launch parameters if it's a quad core or -cpuCount=3 if its a 6 core... This just about doubled my FPS.

EDIT:  In the ARMAOA cfg file, I had already changed the GPU_detectedframesahead to 1, and decided to try setting GPU_MaxFramesAhead to 1 as well.

This resulted in a small boost to my FPS.  I was able to get no less than 17 FPS running through Elektro, the only problem was that my computer was freezing for about 2 seconds, once every minute or so... Should I try setting MazFramesAhead to... I dunno, 50?  Also, should I expect to get any better than a steady 17-24 FPS running through Elektro with my rig?  I just want to know when I should give up trying to make it better...
