Why is the player counter stuck?

The counter on the front page of the dayz website seems to be stuck for a long while now. Or is it true we have gotten no new players since 2 months ago?

There's a long-winded technical answer that i can't remember but basically it's stuck. TBH even if it was working we'd have no idea how many people play. There's no way of recording player numbers for private hives so we'll never know.

It's probably still connected to the old hive tbh, remember it changed a couple of months back.
