I'm going to go ahead and say this and just hope that I'm right...

A whole lot of you are going to need to get over your fears and get used to shooting zombies. I just have a feeling that in the SA you're no longer going to be able to afford to be as quiet as a church mouse, only allowing yourself to make some noise when you finally see another player.

This is what I hope to see. Group A wants what group B has, group B wants what group C has and group C wants what group A has, but they're all going to have to do a little problem solving to get what they want.

Anyone got an idea of what group Z wants?

This should be true and rewarding to do so since zeds will not respawn until server restart, so killing zeds in your area will clear them out unless a pack wonders into town of course

Right now there isn't much of an option except shooting zombies, or losing them. And right now, both ways suck. Zombies are buggy and follow you through concrete walls you crawl through, aggro from large distances away and have random detection loosly based on your visibility and loudness. Zombies also zigzag and might not die from the first shot. Not to mention, there are NO melee weapons that can be used as a secondary, meaning if you want a silent kill, you have to drop your main gun, and that's your lifeline.

This should be fixed by SA.

That, or I want my money back, although I'll be waiting up until release before I give up hope.

Watch the Rezzed Session of the Standalone you can now put everything out of your inventory directly in your hands. So yeah this will probably also include melee weapons

I agree with the OP.

I'd been desperately clinging to life on a 20 day old character on a vanilla server that had all the loots with m16 acog and m4cco as primary's (obtained prepatch).

Yesterday after a few beers I snapped and said fuck all and went on a zombie killing spree in polana with my 8 magazines. Most fun I've had in a long time. Even after I lost a 2v1 firefight with some bandits.

My point? We should be using these weapons we spend so much effort getting out hands on. It's a lot more fun than clinging to them as we hide from zombies we can't really hide from.

Guess what though? They're only buggy when you let them live.

Seriously though, the crying that some of you do over this stuff is hilarious. It's a game, games have bugs, mods may have even more bugs and total conversion mods...even more bugs. Get over it. Ask yourself, what are you really upset about? Are you really mad about a zombie that clipped through a stone barrier that it probably should have been able to climb over anyways?

I can agree with you on one thing though, zombie agro does feel too random and loose. I think we could use some absolutes there. Like they will absolutely spot you within 50m if they have LoS, they will absolutely smell you within 5m if not seperated by a closed off space(in a building versus other side of the car) and they will absolutely communicate with every other zombie in a reasonable radius, creating a hoard. For audio, I don't think they should respond to the sound of footsteps unless you are running. So as long as they don't have LoS, you don't have to worry too much about creeping around. Other than that, they should respond to all audio. Some things like faint voices through a wall, a cough, shutting a car door, could have them wander towards the sound, explore. While things like a car engines, gunshots or screaming at them to come get you should send them into a frenzy.

I agree with what your mean about absolutes. It's silly that while one zombie will ignore me as I run right under his nose, another zombie will agro when I am crouch walking out of his LOS. I think removing sound agro when a player is crouch walking out of LOS while more than 10m from an infected would still force players to slow down and be stealthy and give us more of a chance to avoid using our weapons or exploiting the bush or indoor zed bug.

But if this were implemented, zeds should be as difficult to lose as they were in 1.7.7 and should be more inclined to swarm when one infected has agrod onto a player. It's much scarier to run from a horde of infected. It feels like a pesky annoyance when it is just one. Especially when he is sprinting past his peers and they take no notice

I wasn't crying, wasn't complaining. It's a simple truth.

The point is, this game can be theoretically beaten if you play a certain way. Sneak around the zombies. That isn't possible because they're so buggy they see you anyways. Then, the game lets you be able to lose the zombies, but you can't, because somehow their pathfinding gets them to you even though they first cross through the other end of town and you broke visual 10 seconds ago and started walking. They also clip through a stone wall, that, if they did climb, it would take long enough that you still get the advantage you should from it.

Zombies zigzag and serpentine and this is not meant to happen. I can still kill zombies but this is harder when this happens. Killing zombies is the only alternative to sneaking or running away.

So... how am I not at a total disadvantage?

Not crying, not complaining. By now, everyone knows it. I suck it up and play the game, sure, but in a game where success is survival, and things totally beyond you, not working as their supposed to limit that, it becomes bothersome. Not asking for sympathy, not asking for anything. I'm just saying.

Yes, zeds ability to thrust their hands through walls and still have enough force to tear your flesh was intended, as well as their dashing ability to teleport through walls, and amazing phasing power activated when they reach a fence. With a few magic words uttered from their tongues, "agheighj anboijpaj punh0e[,a[!" they can continue as though nothing hinders them.

The sporatic, zig-zag-like movement is due to developers wanting difficulty, NOT the fact ArmA AI does this when this happens, and the pathfinding of the zombies themselves.

You got it

Don't take this harshly, if you did. I'm only playing around, no offense to you.

Ya, and you get to cure bullet wounds with gauze, broken limbs with a shot of morphine, carry car tires in a back pack, put wheels on cars without a jack, and sprint...FOREV-AR!

Your point?

Watch the videos of the pre-alpha, genius. All of this is already fixed.

Actually, we do have access to the pre-alpha. Either way, it's still irrelevant whether we have access to the alpha yet or not, because the fact still remains that the current development revision has already FIXED all the issues that you are complaining about.

That's what I was replying to, genius. It's ALREADY fixed. MEANING that when we do gain access to the "SA," you won't need your precious $20 back. WHY?

BECAUSE IT'S ALREADY FIXED.

WHY YOU SO ANGRAH ALL THE TIME?

Seriously, relax, man. I don't really see why you need to get all huffy puffy about it, cool down before you blow a gasket.
