JackWalsh 29 Posted June 22, 2013 What about adding 2 extra parameters to the vehicles. (cars, choppers, motorbikes)First of all, it would need 2 extra parameters (database change) :- OIL level- Motor parts condition ( should not be defined on detail level, like spark plugs, carburator). What I am aiming for in this parameter is how dirty or rusty they are. basically one parameter called "engine maintenance"The above could have 3 main levels (reached by the analogue meter, just like how the fuel meter work. But you only see it when checking the vehicles engine)with oil level: 1. very low, 2. low and 3. okaywith motor parts condition: 1. very dirty, 2. dirty, 3. okayThe consequences of low levels of one or both parameters could be:starting problems (with some smoke ;) ) . Driving slower. Engine shutting off when running stationary too long. Or at very low level oil, the engine could catch fire. or just not starting at all, when all levels are very low. That way we could have a bit more vehicles on the map, without too much in good condition. Plus it's something extra to worry about.
cautoad 216 Posted June 22, 2013 Are those parameters going to stay? if they do, im dissapointed. It would be alot better if you had to examine the vehicle yourself and trying to find out what broke.

JackWalsh 29 Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) Well, some might not like this, because of the extra time it may cost. But indeed, an answer like "no" is not really constructive feedback. That's more a "poll" answer ;)But i thought it would increase realism. Cars need oil. A car standing still for a while might have problems with dirty spark plugs, and or a dirty carburator.). A difficult to start car because of that might also increase realism. Are those parameters going to stay? if they do, im dissapointed. It would be alot better if you had to examine the vehicle yourself and trying to find out what broke.I would say the parameters should be dynamic, and should also only be seen when quickly inspecting the cars maintenance level. If you don't inspect it, and the car takes long to start, (and/or you see smoke) you know you should inspect that. Edited June 22, 2013 by JackWalsh
enforcer1975 1111 Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) With the low tech cars that are in the Chernarussian region you could neglect any kind of maintenance and they would still run for years if you just put some motor oil ( and maybe change it every year or two ) and fuel in them and change tires every now and then. I drove my 87 Mazda 323 doing just that during my apprenticeship and the only thing that failed me in those almost 4 years was the ignition coils. I can't say the same about today's cars. Every time i pick up my current car out of the car workshop i seem to have another part that needs to be fixed...Oh yes...and most of the time they want to plug in to know what your car wants...not really user friendly. marko4231 57 Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) Spending all that time and resources on a car that you cant even lock to prevent getting stolen...You want to repair battery, engine, wheels, oil but nobody thinks of a damn key!Maybe make it so you can only get the key to drivve a car if you take it from the owner, from his corpse most likely? DayzForumer 284 Posted June 23, 2013 The game shouldn't be a simulator, it should be a MMO as the developers have stated it will be developed as. Why should we go around changing oil & filters all the time because we want to travel maybe 2 km?
