lesliehapablap 1 Posted June 20, 2013 So, I haven't had this happen ever like this consistent with any other game... but.. my computer will randomly power off while I'm in the middle of the game. I cannot figure out why. It's not like it starts lagging.. the game is running smoothly... then it shuts off. Third time this has happened. :/ What could be causing it? boxman80 964 Posted June 20, 2013 Woah how much of a coincidence?! My PSU gave up the ghost today after a couple of days of this. Yea just to reitterate the above, sounds like its your powersupply mate. Check how warm it is when it does it and see if there are any burning smells comign from it. Mayuyu 411 Posted June 20, 2013 Most likely overheating. I had this issue too!Your fan on your graphics card has most likely stopped working. lesliehapablap 1 Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) Ah.. so.. either overheating or power supply? Could it also be dust becaue on the top my computer is pretty dusty. It's been pretty hot here the last two days aswell if that could be contributing.. should cooldown over today and tomorrow. And I recall having some sort of program that read the heat on my computer.. it might be the one linked by King Tubbs.ah, speedfan! I typed search in it on my computer and I do still have it. Does Speefan alert me when my computer is getting too hot? If it does next time my computer shuts off I can see if that is the issue.I don't have DayZ up and running, took a break about half an hour ago.. but two of my items have fire icons next to them.. that can't be good.And now one.. Temp2 is 56C.GPU: 50CCore 0: 49CCore 1: 51CI have four cores.. but it only lists two. Their temperature is jumping up and down constantly. Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) Just make sure that before you spend any money at least try giving the insides a good clean, even if you're getting good temperature readings because they can be inacurate sometimes. If the top of your rig is dusty it's probably much worse around your fan and the intakes etc. I clean mine every month or two now and it makes a massive difference. The reason I keep banging on about overheating is because by opening my case and cleaning everything with compressed air it solved so many issues I was having. I was getting similar temp readings to the OP. I've also heard that temp readings are not always accurate. Even if you're not sure I still HIGHlY recommend anyone cleans the inners of their rig occasionally. Seriously, when I opened mine up the amount of dust in there was embarrasing, i just had to look at it to know it must be causing issues.When I asked some of my mates it turns out hardly any of them regularly clean it out and some have had over-heating issues. It's a VERY cheap way of keeping things running nicely, it's at least worth trying before you start looking at new fans etc. and should be something every one does as basic maintanence along with the usual defragging etc. Edited June 21, 2013 by Fraggle Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
