Old player coming back - Worth spending time?

Hey,

Played this mod when it got released all the way up to when hackers started becoming a problem. I haven't played for over half a year now and I have been looking forward to Day Z stand alone however it is taking longer than I thought so would like to give this another go in the hope that its better.

My main question really is that is there a lot less hacking now and what main points have changed?

If you find a good Whitelisted, Private Hive, then hackers will not be a problem.

The main point now that has changed is probably the infection from zeds and water. If you get hit by zeds you have a chance of getting an infection (or it could only be viral zeds that give you infection?), and if you don't boil water you have a chance of getting an infection. Use antibiotics to cure infection, if you can find any

I actually enjoy playing on my own Private Hive ... every now and again someone joins me ... but I like playing against the environment and the zeds ... remarkably I do everything old fashioned ... like manually repairing vehicles and doing things ... I am weird that way. :)

I'd like a hive where everything is manual rather than cars already working ect. ect.

Lots changed i the last 6 months. Start the game and see for yourself, but before you do find a good server, ideally whitelisted. Balota buddies is one of the best hives for regular Day Z vanilla, their servers are well administrated and they are decent guys. They are also very active here and commited to the game, which many groups/servers are not!

Correct me if I am wrong, but Balota Buddies are not that Vanilla. They have extra buildings and more vehicles ... a little away from Vanilla. :)

Well as long is its close to Vanilla im not too fussed, I just want an even playing field and somewhere I can play without being constantly hacked. Extra buildings and more vehicles I don't mind.

Another questions, whats the difference with DayZ Origins? Whats the deal there.

I believe the UK server is strictly vanilla

US has some extra buildings ect

Both run Dynamic helo crashes I think though ... I may be mistaken
