Recommended Posts

Hi all, just wandered, is there such a thing as a safe place to setup camp and stuff in Dayz?

An empty server would be a great spot.

Then the woods in the middle of nowhere are your best best.

Yup, a really good tactic is to have several tents together with some minor loot in then your real tent 500m further away so groups get attracted to the cluster and leave your single tent alone :)

Nowhere is safe. Nowhere.

Except the middle of the street somewhere in Elektro, preferably where all 3 fire stations can shoot at it.

I once had one of those with a DMR inside and a satchel charge next to it.

Hmm. Fun.

Well a fireplace you can set anywhere, as they disappear when you log out. Usually though it's best to do in a forest as you have to go out there for wood anyways, and it's safer out there.

That hill between cherno and elektro seems to be safe. I found cars up there and it gives you a nice view of the area.

I would make my bases near Topolka I think its called at nwaf on the right where trees are surrounding three sides but a open plain on the one. I store my mi17 There and my weapons I find...

before the dwarves came.... * shudder *

Somewhere nice and quiet in the centre of the map that isn't on the PvP highways from the coast to the 2 airfields.

The woods on the Western edge of the map and the area around Blunt Rocks sometimes look like a Scout Jamboree with the mount of tents there...

Every camp I've ever had has been raided. I still try. West more than north these days.

All camps will eventually be found. In the meantime the stuff you store in tents is only temporary.

Personally I try to look at where the hotspots of the map are and look at the likely routes and thoroughfares of those areas are. I dont include the obvious areas such a s far northern and western areas of the map because new chopper owners regularly patrol those areas looking for camps and vehicles, so avoid those. I often find the least likely places are often the best.

This is sage advise. Another thing to consider is multiple camps, as you spawn in multiple locations. Remember: If its easy for you to find, its easy for someomne else as well. Clearings arent really yout best friend as they can be sporttd from the air. Anyplace around a hot-spot ( NWAF, Balota ect.) can be run into by a survivor or group. Off the beaten path is best, but ultimately there is no place that I can think of that is 'safe' from detection and attack.

Be creative and selective, and do not forget to move from time to time.
