Better Use for Machete

Recommended Posts

Keep in mind, this is not my idea, someone suggested it to me.

As of now, the Machete isn't that useful, as the hatchet has a bigger range, and more uses.

Don't you get sick of getting into a good sniper/overwatch position, only to have that one annoying piece of grass constantly popping up infront of you? Instead of having to crawl from cover to flatten it, you could open your gear menu, right click your machete, and click "cut grass" or something similar (much like the "chop wood" function on the hatchet).

This will then cut the grass a certain distance infront (i.e. all grass 1-2m) of you, and that grass will be flattened for a certain amount of time (i.e. 10minutes, 30 minutes, until reset, etc).

Let me know what you think,

Why do you snipe/overwatch in the first place...is it to kill players from far away by any chance? The popping up is a compromise between seeing a bit and not seeings at all. Since gras tries to get back into it's position it only sound logical, ok maybe it doesn't go back that fast but still... And ther's the info that has to be shared..maybe a lawn mower would be better. But who would mow the gras with all those snipers around?

One thing that pisses me off about the machete is that it has some random bloodsplatters on it. Every single of them have the same texture, so lets not make it so "unique", it looks ridiculous.

I think its a decent idea the grass is invisible to far away people and could be one of those things people could notice as evidence of people in the area. So if you see it you know a sniper/person was just in that area recently.

It looks more like a 2 hand sword than a machete anyways

imo machetes are "out-of-place-artifacts" in a post-soviet set country anyway :P

Do you think a sickle would be better? I know a lot of countries use them to cut grass so it would make even more sense as a weapon and able to cut grass

machetes are mostly and commonly used in tropical/subtropical regions however in europe they could still be considered as something "exotic" although they become more and more popular in several countries they are still the exception rather than the rule.

It does do much more damage than the hatchet, I think the hatchet does, like 8K while the machete does somewhere around 12.5K. Also it's straight-up pimpin'.

It's quite a possible feat. I'm not talking about your typical lawn.

I'm talking about long wild grass, which tends to be stiffer, dryer, longer, and much more easy to cut with a sharp blade.

Sounds like a pretty fair idea to me , but doesn't have to be limited to the machete .

Entrenching tool could be used to "till the surface" , giving the same effect of removing the grass ( until next restart ? )

Hatchet could do it too , it's not that hard to cut / crush grass down permanently .

Could just rip the grass out with your hands :D
