Who cares, it's nice to see someone not crying about the update.

If only my server didn't launch everyone into a deathmatch every time I made a restart, teleporting everyone into debug areas.

Honestly after reading the patch notes i was concerned... Zombies didn't really concern me but loot being rarer? Well that's no fun.

After checking a hospital for the first time i was even more annoyed - No medical crates full of supplies? Wtf?

But after playing it for a while i'm really enjoying the ... the... "New Economy?" of dayz? Thats the only way i can think to put it. Loot is more valued... I'm actually checking small towns now instead of just raiding Cherno for my gear.

My buddy and I were beginning to think we were alone, we too love the patch, yes the game now is more challenging but we altered our approach and have adopted new strategies to deal with the new threats, we have no problem now.

Just chiming in to say my friends and I love the patch as well! The only thing I would like to see tweaked is zombie AI, it would be great if it was at least a bit easier to avoid the zombies. They just see through walls.

Other than that, great patch, all of a sudden I've been having way more interactions with players as well, rather than everyone just attacking on sight.

I think it's the best patch yet personally. I had to recalibrate my style quickly at first but there are so many more suprises now.. zombies randomly entering buildings, climbing ladders, even 'playing dead' (sic)... not died yet though despite having become infected a few times and the gear that counts is still there, you just have to be a bit more patient (found an AK74 Kobra, alice pack and camo skin on a quick Cherno run this morning). Caution is paramount!

Some of us were ALREADY checking small towns. Now the small towns have more zombies than Cherno!!!

I've mentioned this before, but nobody ever addresses it, they just say "Love the patch. Love it all. You can't play!".

So again, I've had to wait in the bushes for 12, that's "twelve", zombies to all walk down the street toward me and all go in the log house. That is not a change for the better. Small town spawn rates are too high.

There are other problems I've listed elsewhere. My point here is this:

The "I love this! It's like the old days" types will shout it from the rooftops, maintaining their "hardcore" status.

They will also tell me why I am wrong to not like the patch. They will call me names.

I hate to break it to the "real" players, but enough people don't like this patch, more every day, that there will be changes.

Don't worry. You can still play 1.7.7 until the end of time if you want to.

The patch definetely made the game a lot more fun and interessting.

I am really enjoying it, although I think that the infection needs tweaking and further work on, because it gets frustrating in the actual state. I say that as a player who is part of a group that got no hands on a single antibiotic by now.

I think this game has gotten a lot more Rogue then before. Now, when I play, I do not expect to survive when I land on the beach, because the big cities are off limits. With no gear, the most risky thing you can do is sneaking the outskirts of small towns and pray for a melee weapon, or enough supplies until you have one. Then, you can start raiding barns and outlying industrial, a gun and hunters equipment being the great prize. Only when you can hope to go to hot areas, still taking a huge risk in doing so before you finally have a secure collection of loot.

Each step in the process is unforgiving in gameplay. If you screw up, you are dead or infected. Sometimes it is just a matter of simple bad luck.

This brings this game in line with Rogue and its successors, which I think is a huge step in the right direction. Once you have a full gear, you have basically won the game unless you wanna go full out deathmatch, and a lot of other games offer a much better experience at that. So for the game to be a real succes on its own terms, you need to make the process of getting proper gear long, interesting and difficult.

Surely, the game is going to lose a lot of players that feel differently, and personnaly I cannot bring myself to start more than once in an evening when I die due to dissapointment. But I think the game is a lot more true to its core values.

haha this is my experience i stopped playing along with the 20 or other so regs i play with everyday over the last year. great patch . killed most of the fun in the game makes it more of a grind now. takes some doing in one patch !

i know youll end up tweaking it cause most servers will start dropping off very quickly.

learn one thing devs you cant make a realistic zombie game its fiction to start with ! make games fun before function. that is all you need to know.

I don't understand why people say that they are "changing their tactics". I understand that getting hit through walls is a bug which you have to adjust tactics for because of engine restrictions, but why give the zombies more powers to knock you down through walls. Why change the zombies from having the hit detection of the 1.7.6.1 patch where they needed to be close to you to hit you. Not only do they not hit you when you are close now, they knock you down when you have already ran by them far enough from their arms. This patch makes Dayz harder because it bugs the zombies out. I am down for survival game mechanics, I am down for hardcore gaming mechanics, but why put a patch out that creates lots of issues? What the loot spawn drops have done is make people leave the big cities, which is good. In the same aspect it also dropped the rate of the antibiotics, which means people are going to go around killing each other just to find them not cooperate to trade. There are some serious balance issues with this patch and it is disappointing that it was released the way it is.

The quicker zombies are awesome though, got scared the first time I saw one on my ass in the forest.

I don't see why everyone is complaining about the infection rate. Yes it is high, there is a high chance of being infected when zombies hit you now. So ask yourself this.....

Why do you let zombies keep hitting you?

Been playing for two days now, not been infected once. Just use a more stealthy approach and if you get zombies on you shoot them until they are dead, don't let them hit you AT ALL!!!

Awesome patch, people need to adapt.

EDIT: This feels like a proper zombie survival game now, I love it.

Every time there's a new patch you're in here saying that it's ruined everything forever and that you're stopping playing the mod because of it. Yet the moment the next patch comes out, you'll be back in here saying that you're going to stop playing it.

You should be careful with that, less someone more cynical than myself think you're just being melodramatic about a bit of change and will carry on playing regardless. :)

Those who have not been infected are not new players. I jumped on a server which i had been playing for a bit and was geared up away from the cities and yes, it was no issue at all. The reason for this was because there was less zombie interaction. For those of you who can not understand some of the issues which people are "crying" and "whining" about need to drop their gear and respawn.

I came back to vanilla to find my 300+ day old toon gone, with all his gear. So I started from scratch. Took me about 3 hours and 4 lives to figure out how to avoid Zeds, what I needed to do to stay alive, and where to go.

In that time I helped a couple other players, avoided PvP because I couldn't take the risk of attracting zombies, had a great time even though I had crap gear, and spent some time exploring, trying to find the new Infected Camps.

I like the game now. It's harder. I'm in the camp that enjoys a Survival game, not a sandbox PvP with moving targets in the form of Zombies.

The game is great now, it's about survival instead of DM shooting.
