What it means to me to be a hero

Recommended Posts

Just got a chance to show someone that my hero skin means more than just pumping other players full of blood bags, but that I won't just kill someone for being in front of me.

I was in the coast side radio tower when a bambi ran upstairs in a panic because he was being chased by a pack of zombies and needed to find a defensible location, but with no gun or even an axe he didn't have a chance. As soon as he saw me in the room standing there gauging his reaction he quickly threw out a friendly and a few quick words, asking me if I was really a hero, saying he hadn't actually met one yet. I don't know what it was I trusted about this kid, but I did what was probably the biggest gamble that DayZ has to offer... I gave him a gun.

He didn't disappoint either, said it was nice to meet a real hero, we held the tower against a solid 15 or so zombies and then found an opening we could make a break for it through. once we were able to reach the tree line and make sure we weren't followed out by any stray zombies we talk for a few before parting way.

Moments like these remind me of why I choose to be a hero in a world of bandits, and what I love about this game.

It's the small things like this that make the game great.

Sure you might die 100 times due to glitches or hackers but when you and a random share a memorable moment, they all get put on the bench.

To me a hero is someone who is willing to take the leap in trusting others even if he has it all to lose.

Beans to you my man

Its so sad, a lot of people now a days will shoot that hero after they help them out. Its good to see that there are still real heros and survivors

I played a little breaking point recently as a shoot on sight bandit ( a first) and that really had no appeal to me. Poor guys just running around to randomly eat a bullet...

Being a hero in dayz (especially with this new patch) is extremely difficult but worth it completely. Carry on Gents!

And P.S. - I live in the southern US, and the hero skin is a flannel jacket. This means i have a crusade to maintain this outfit regardless of cost XD

Recently I was at the NEAF and whilst I was being shot at by two bandit-skinned fellows, I broke the legs of the one closest to me then bloodbagged him, during an attack by two zombies as well. He then shot me, but it was worth it.
