I love Dayz Epoch but SOOO many Chernarus only servers

Recommended Posts

Why are there so few working servers with other maps, like Taviana or Takistan? For me, Chernarus is just so played out and boring. I get connection errors with the few that do exist. thx

Do you really expect one person to justify the actions of about 4,138 people who own a Chernarus server?

Its because the mod is made for that, it has all the custom buildings/trading post built for that map, unless the devs put them on another map.

So its just too new, basically, and has issues? The wiki has had all the major maps listed as working for a long time, not true? I had fun for weeks on a Takistan Epoch server, but they took it down.

If anyone has a good non-Chenarus Epoch server,US west coast-ish, please let me know here. Much thanks!

So you insult me, while also REJECTING an answer after someone supplies you with one?

You asked why there are so many servers. I could give you a list, but it's with such obvious reasons I assume if you took the time to think about it you could come to the same conclusions.

Sounds to me like you're just complaining, and this thread is just about useless. But hey, that's just my opinion. Never hurt no one, never got nowhere, but it's still there; do what you will with it.

Im sorry, I assumed your question/response was rhetorical and condescending from the sound of it. I didn't think you were seriously asking that question or trying to meaningfully contribute to the discussion. The answer to it is "no". Do you feel better? I'm not sure if you understood my original question or not, in that case. I'm not rejecting anything either--epoch was made for chenarus, like he said, as a new mod, but as time goes on, further releases will work with the other maps better. Do you understand what I meant?

Anyhow, I'd appreciate if you didnt flame this thread anymore--thanks

You seem to not understand where f-off is more of a flame than anything I've posted here. If you think I'm not contributing to the discussion, then you don't respond. It is that simple.

But since now I feel like you need more reasons to maybe repel, here's that list:

-Epoch was made for Chernarus

The placement, flow, layout, and everything was good for Chernarus.

-Everybody likes Chernarus. More or less.

If you don't like Chernarus and you play ArmA2 or DayZ, you've got a problem. It was a failsafe at a large target audience.

-New maps are buggy and unprofessional.

-Modding

I imagine it would be harder to mod a map that is already a mod for the game, while using a total conversion mod for the game.

-Everyone has Chernarus

If someone for some reason couldn't or didn't want to install new maps, it would be no problem.

-Size

Chernarus is one of the biggest maps for DayZ out there.

-Popularity

If people don't like a map and Epoch is it, they won't play/like it, therefore decreasing popularity.

-Time

If you keep expanding and don't perfect what you have, you have a pile of trash, rather than say a dirty collared shirt ready to be taken to the cleaners. More maps = more time = worse on each of them = more work keeping them up to date.

Some of these reasons talk as if Epoch was to be made on only ONE map, I'll give you that, but there's a thing in the list for that, too.

Now thats a thoughtful response--thank you, McCullins. F-off was a bit harsh--I have a foul mouth--but it wasn't an insult.

It just seems like there would be a few Tavianas up by now, I would guess being the next most popular map. Yeah, I guess I'm complaining at this point.

I figured out part of the problem was that installing Epoch by hand or through DC doesnt include the other maps. PwSix will alert you and install the extra map files you need for a given server. I should have figured that out earlier.
