Running in doors... read before ranting.

Recommended Posts

The suggestion here is that the community devs test zombies moving at full speed indoors again.

This was previously available within the mod but due to them clipping through walls and interior objects was removed.

Now that those bugs have been removed for the most part has the return of full movement for indoor zed been tested at all?

If not I would like to suggest that testing be done and considered for the next patch (not the one coming monday of course).

It was said that in SA the zombies (inecteds) are capable of running indors.

No more safety of buildnigs.

Sometimes i wonder if this game is made for zombies to have fun or players, because zombies have countless advantages.

They cooperate, they need no food, no water, they are faster smarter and more agile than players, they can zig-zag right to you and avoid your shots..

They give you open wounds and bleeding with a single punch, sometimes infection too..etc.

I would much rather be a zombie in this game than a pityfull human.

My opinion fcourse.

Zombies are stupid, you can have a group of them chasing you and lose them in no time at all. ezpz :)

The reason they dont run indoors is because the pathing issues in the mod. This has been completely overhauled and improved in SA.

I really dont mind this and am pleased about it as it helps make the game as challenging as it should be. I would imagine to help combat this you would have to close doors behind you or barricade entrances and they will no loner be able to just warp straight through any more. It also means you have to deal with zombie threats, ideally as quietly as possible. For me this only goes to improve the game.

I do understand that issues arose early on but I don't believe they've even tried re emplementing the running in doors since the community team resolved many of the issues with zombies and how they react to objects.

So the suggestion is to just pop it back on in a test build and see how it runs. If it doesn't just let us know that and don't bring it to an official release.

I can see no reason to not add this back in. My only request would be that if this is to be added that you also stop the zeds from suddenly hitting warp speed to catch up to you (giving you a chance to enter a building once the zed has lost sight of you)

I can sort of agree with you here, I mean they are zombies and that is how it would be if it happened I suppose. "Life isn't fair" I guess the zombie apocalypse isn't either.

Not the game for you??? The basic AI they have is one of the dumbest you can have. If they were really "intelligent" they would flank you while you are beeing fooled by a smaller number of zeds in front of you and you would never hear the pack coming. To running in buildings what would stop zombies from running in buildings? Having them moving slow would be unrealistic in the first place...

If they do this then it needs to be balanced with:

1. They can no longer open doors... How is a dumb mindless zombie being driven by the base need for "brains" supposed to understand a locking mechanism?

2. They need to lose track of you sooner once they loose sight of you. They should NEVER be able to smell you as the scent of all the Zeds that are constantly defecating in their pants would hide any smell you would give off.

3. Thy need to bump into each other more often which would slow them down.

I don't think that doors should be locked from zed but sandbags should hold them back as well as tank traps so that you'll have o put effort into keeping the zed at bay.

They follow you perfectly during nights only by sound and never hit anything...does infection give you night vision too?

Based on the latest change-log their outdoor limit is 100m.

I presume that this is based on diseased eyes, injuries that are not addressed, etc.

Based on this, their nightvision should also be limited.
