haizakokaru@yahoo.com 2 Posted June 7, 2013 Hey everyone, I am not really new to the game, but after returning from an academic hiatus, I can't quite figure out how to attach my crowbar to my gun. Before whatever patch it was that changed this, I could just look at a crowbar on the floor, scroll and click "get crowbar", then attach it to my weapon so I can scroll to the crowbar if needed. As of right now, my crowbar is sitting in my tools inventory. For those of you who are just going to rain on the crowbar in this thread, please take your negativity elsewhere. The crowbar is a fine backup if you get caught mid-reload by a zombie in close proximity or if you want to deal a finishing blow after dumping a load of bullets on a zed. Thanks to all who contribute constructively!
fluxley 2228 Posted June 7, 2013 I believe you can do this in DayZ 2017, but its not a feature of standard DayZ.
sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted June 7, 2013 Maybe... that's some different mod? Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
dappadan95 332 Posted June 7, 2013 What does it even do on a gun???
Mos1ey 6301 Posted June 7, 2013 What does it even do on a gun???I haven't actually used this feature but I believe it basically acts as if it was in a third weapon slot, so that you can select it via the scroll menu without dropping your primary.
fluxley 2228 Posted June 7, 2013 In 2017 you select the crowbar with your scroll wheel and it allows you smack zambies with you rifle butt, its only low damage as it uses the crowbar, but its pretty handy when you get in a tight spot.
haizakokaru@yahoo.com 2 Posted June 8, 2013 Wow, you guys all must be fairly new players. This apparently 2017-exclusive feature was available in the regular DayZ in the early days.
spinager 152 Posted June 8, 2013 Wow, you guys all must be fairly new players. This apparently 2017-exclusive feature was available in the regular DayZ in the early days. Not new, just never bothered attaching that crowbar on a gun. Think of it, I never have picked up a crowbar in all the months its been in the game.

haizakokaru@yahoo.com 2 Posted June 8, 2013 right click remove from tool belt?Tells me there's no room. ... And if I take off the primary, kinda defeats the purpose.
St. Jimmy 1631 Posted June 8, 2013 (edited) So do you mean that you want crowbar in your primary weapon slot and not attach it on the gun? I think you confused people with this. Crowbar goes in your tools slot like you said now. Right click it and there comes an option to put it in your hands but you can't have primary weapon already because it goes in that slot. Yes it would be nice that it doesn't go there but that's how Arma works :( Edited June 8, 2013 by St. Jimmy
haizakokaru@yahoo.com 2 Posted June 8, 2013 (edited) Thanks for all the replies everyone! Now I'm not sure what the crowbar is meant for anymore if it's been stripped of its attachment capability... It's just a nerfed hatchet at this rate.So do you mean that you want crowbar in your primary weapon slot and not attach it on the gun? I think you confused people with this. I do want to attach it as I implied in my original post....And no, that's not how "Arma" works, since crowbar attachments existed well after the early alpha days. herrjon 478 Posted June 8, 2013 It's been removed, either intentionally or unintentionally since it got changed to a toolbelt weapon I would assume. As people have said, something like this exists in 2017, and some private servers may have a mod for it, not sure. But yeah, on vanilla servers, it is essentially a nerfed hatchet that's more rare and buggy as all hell to equip and use. I wouldn't bother it. A DayZ vet like yourself shouldn't have a problem avoiding zeds and killing them when needed.

I was just hoping to have that extra option when in a fight. :/Adds a bit more to the realism I so seek in the games I play. Thanks everyone!I simply said its not a feature of DayZ, as in you cannot do this in the current mod.I see. My bad.
