carbine781 (DayZ) 131 Posted June 4, 2013 Hi. Quick Idea. After seeing a video of people playing on a custom dayz server with custom sound effects, I must say, the sound is a lot better. Example: gunfire over long distances has a really cool echo and sounds more realistic. Maybe consider that standalone team. Redo the sound effects. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
TurkishMonkey 62 Posted June 4, 2013 I must admit, the biggest thing for me is sound.I remember when i first played the mod i heard the sound effect for the birds flying off the brush, definitely made me clinch my buns, was a bit sad to learn that the sound effect is ambiance.i truly hope this isn't the case in the standalone.I really think sound is overlooked in some titles and i trust the DayZ team understand how useful sound can be in portraying the post apocalyptic world :D 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Not only did it replace every single weapon noise with a more realistic sound, but there were even changes in the environmental ambient sounds.I wish they'd add this sound mod to DayZ. enforcer1975 1111 Posted June 4, 2013 Well that might be because the tin can was a copy of a grenade with a different config and they forgot the remove the sound effect...But just to be on the safe side the sound mod has to be custom made for the mod so you don't always have to download 100 gb of sounds just the ones you need and if they add new weapons you will be needing new effects. Everyone who blew up a firecracker ontop of a hill knows even that noise travels extremely far.What I would like to see is zombies beeing attracted to gunshots from over miles away.I am not talking about full lock on spring aggro, but rather slow walking "wha was tha" kind of interest in that general areaPS.: having echos sound really nice to ;-) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
