Loke (DayZ) 4 Posted June 1, 2013 not sure if the question has been posted been looking around.ive have been farming some Heli crash sites (pilots) thinking the nvg will drop but nothing so far.anyone got a video of it happening or is the droprate insanly low?
herrjon 478 Posted June 1, 2013 Don't know of any footage of it, as you'd have to be recording for hours or just get damn lucky, but yeah, the droprate is insanely low. Better off server hopping for crashed heli's, you'll at least get more guns that way.

I somehow don't think that's the best thing for a member of a highly respected medic group to say.

They were on the ground, about 15 feet off the middle of the starboard side of a huey.I stopped bothering with NWAF.I wouldn't be surprised if I have been to 1000 crash sites in the year, and killed at least double that in pilots. Nada.To do that, you have to play on several servers. If that's hopping, then it's another bad DayZ term for it.
leviski 2152 Posted June 1, 2013 I wasn't aware that Zombie Pilots even dropped NVG'shmI think someone might be pulling your leg
Loke (DayZ) 4 Posted June 1, 2013 thats what im thinking, ive herd that they have stopped spawning them on barracks and only drops from the pilot zombies maybe that is wrong. im gonna do some better search around the hueys.tbh i dont server hop i just run away from the chopper and back to get a new batch of pilots to spawn in. and ive been killing tons of zombies. ive been first on site after a server restart aswell at servers having more then 10 heli crash sites. herrjon 478 Posted June 1, 2013 Server hopping? I somehow don't think that's the best thing for a member of a highly respected medic group to say. That's an...interesting tangent to take from my post. You do realize heli crash spawns are random right? It's not the same as server hopping in the barracks or something, it's essentially go on a server, look over most of the north for helis. Don't find any NVG's, try another server by logging out in the forest (as most do). And I wasn't actually recommending that tactic, I was simply comparing that to how terribly low the drop rates for the pilot's NVG's were.@OP, yes they don't spawn in barracks, only at heli crashes and very rarely on the bodies of pilot zombies. If you keep managing to be the first one at the crashes, you should find it spawned around the heli eventually. If however your goal is to be the person to find it dropped by the zombie, then best of luck. I recommend finding yourself a M249 SAW or just a hatchet and lots of bandages and meat.
-Se7eN- 874 Posted June 1, 2013 Server hopping? I somehow don't think that's the best thing for a member of a highly respected medic group to say.Not only that but nowhere does it say TMW has a policy against server hopping, we dont script and dont abuse open exploits such as duping, but we do own to main hive servers and frequently switch between both. It would be silly of us not to utilize both servers.
philbottle 430 Posted June 1, 2013 I've only ever obtained NVGs from other players, as gifts/trades/looting a dead body etc Heli crashes seem to like providing me SVD camos more than any other loot, weird.
fluxley 2228 Posted June 1, 2013 No NVG's to be found on the pilots i'm afraid, its all a bit of a myth. http://db.dayzwiki.com/zombies/17-zombie-soldier-pilot
HMS 115 Posted June 1, 2013 Do you happen to know where/how they get any of that data in the Wiki?
fluxley 2228 Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) its all in the @Dayz folder, you need to unpack the .pbo files with this http://www.armaholic...ge.php?id=16369And you'll find the loot tables in the dayz_code.pbo > cfgLootand dayz_code.pbo > configAppears the pilots just use the military loot table from cfgLootalmost forgot, use this to open all the files in the pbo's http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ Edited June 2, 2013 by Fluxley
