To wait or not ?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

i want to start playing DayZ but idk if i should wait until the Standalone game will be out, or should i buy the combined operations pack for 25 dollars and start playing now ?

i got a few more questions:

How many people play in server?

is it a game with servers that people open?

will the standalone game will be a game of servers that people open, or a game that every one play on the same map and place?

when will the standalone game will be out?

If its a game of servers, every time i go in to a server (not same server) will i start all again or ill have the same items i had?

Is this game worth the money ? is it fun and full with players?

Hello there

All these questions have regularly been answered in depth. Have a good search around. Plus, only *you* can judge if the game is for you.

In order:

1. If you don't care for ArmA, then wait for Standalone. If you'd like a great free milsim, pick up A2:CO and get DayZMod as a free bonus.

2. There have been 60-man servers, but the norm is around 40.

3. All servers for DayZmod are hosted by players.

4. The standalone will probably be hosted by players also, no word on this.

5. There's no set release date.

6. Your gear should carry across all servers.

7. Yes, yes and yes.

Simple answer if you can easily afford to by both buy arma2 now and start enjoying until standalone is released.

If money is tight for you wait until standalone

No, this isn't a fun game and nobody is playing it anymore.

It's as dead as a gaming bandwagon gets.

(That's sarcasm, by the way.)

Rage VG pretty much nailed it.

25 dollars is pretty cheap for a game as richly detailed and moddable as Arma.

If you waited for Standalone but decided the game was too difficult or boring, then what? You've wasted your money. If you buy Arma and you decide DayZ is hard\boring, well there are lots of other mods to play. If you discover the Arma editor you can design missions as complex or simple as you want.

Once the Standalone is released DayZ mod will still continue to grow. It won't be possible for SA to please everybody all the time. New features can be implemented much faster in DayZ mod, however, Standalone will be more secure. There are huge advantages to both.

If you have the requirements to play DayZ, it will always be available. The mod and the standalone will be separate, so you will have to pay for the Standalone, but you can still continue to play and enjoy the mod if you wish.

Well I predict a huge boost in the number of people playing the mod when the 1.7.7 patch is released, there are a lot of changes coming and they look awesome, I think a lot of old players will be drawn back. But I think we'll see an even bigger boost in the number of people playing when the standalone is released, with a tonne of new players as well as returning old players.

Wait, so when thw standalone will be out, will the mod still update and have new stuff? Its a comflict cuz if ill buy co and then after a few time ill see that the standalone is much much better then I'm fucked..

More question, ive heard that the standalone will be more secure, abd i heard that there are many hackers in the mod, so are there a lot hackers there? And in the standalone there will be less?

The mod will continue to receive community updates.

The Standalone should be more secure than then mod, plus hackers aren't much of a problem in Private Hives.

Community updates means updates in the mod like a weapon/ new options and etc ?

And what does private hives mean?

Im hoping that SA is just around the corner so taking a break from Chenarus so as to not burn myself out on that map. But since we don't know exactly when SA is coming out, if you have the money and don't mind spending it, you might like getting your feet wet with the mod version of Chenarus so as your totally not lost when SA is released. Or maybe you want to be totally new to the experience. Up to you. :)

Im trying out the origins mod now, it being a different map. If you get Arma II CO then you get all those different maps that you won't have if you just waited til SA. Good stuff with the mod, and you'll have fun, but totally up to you.
