Yeh, as well as books written by the community.

So in theory, someone could play the game, write about their adventures in the game, and then have it uploaded into the game itself for others to read while playing the game?

We have to go deeper..

Yeh, I think they are more after non-dayz related books though, ones you would expect to actually find in the world, there will be a journal system for dayz stories.

As long as there's no MLP fanfics involved...

They should put in some books by HP Lovecraft. Nice campfire stories, especially for kids.

Is the standalone going to be easier on the PC?

And by that I mean, is it going to cost a $1000 PC to get decent framerate?

I think it's getting a bit more FPS then Arma 2. I'm not sure if Rocket is using the Arma 3 engine(?) or a heavily modified Arma 2 engine(?). So, I think you can expect more fps then regular Arma 2.

I'd assume a 5-10 frame per second boost. They were spawning 3000 zombies before optimization, and they got around 25 frames per second. After optimization, they got 40 frames per second. And that was on highest settings, with a pretty expensive laptop(Dell M17/M18X).

Even if it won't be a dramatic FPS change, it will still be there.

So yes, expect a bit more FPS.

I don't know why people whine about 30-40fps.

I have 20-25 FPS average and I got so used to it, it seems smooth for me now.

If I get 40 FPS (wich never happens) I'd be like, wtf, this isn't the game I used to play.

I play on ultra settings and get a comfortable 35 frames. I once asked what the recommended settings for my computer would be. Unanimously everyone said "normal" would be playable. Not only could I play high, but ultra. Everyone makes a big deal about have sixty frames all the time, but as long as you have AT LEAST 25 you're fine. For example; jackfrags has a GTX 670 and an i7 3930k. He plays on near LOWEST settings. I find it hard to enjoy DayZ videos, when even youtubers who can easily max DayZ play on the lowest fucking settings. It disgusts me really. I tried finding a decent gameplay video that showed a friend that A2 doesn't have bad graphics. The only one I found was a benchmark video. Listen, if you've paid more than 120 dollars on a gpu that wasn't a ripoff, you should be playing on high settings.

Rocket should just abandon his social life and cater to our needs. Then he will see the true light.

He doesn't really play on lowest, the details on his videos are pretty nice.

YOu have to realize that because of its modded nature, dayz gets even worse FPS than regular arma.

Yes, and that's why SA will have more FPS than DayZ mod.

i play on a £420 rig and i run ultra at 45-55 FPS granted i have post processing disabled. so no you don't need to spend $1000 on a gaming rig
