So what does that mean?

Well Rocket said before that the Client/Server Architecture is their main goal in DayZ Developement before releasing.

He also said that he will not release the game without this, so it might mean the game is really close to an alpha, maybe June?

Just getting my hopes up cause I can. :3

If it's ready for large-scale closed testing then they must be getting close. Rocket hinted that a date would be set very soon, I'd just wait for the date as opposed to speculating.

He twittered that the closed alpha will start tomorrow. My guess is that there will be a closed alpha for a week or two (or three), then fix some bugs those bring up. And directly after that release so my guess is the public alpha will come end june.

Well I don't think he will delay the Open Alpha if the closed one went smoothly.

Right now he is testing the architecture with Matt (Matt told me on skype) and let's hope everything goes well. :3

E3 really throws a spanner in the works for us, I doubt we're going to be able to set a date before E3 itself.

But todays milestone is a huge one, one that we have been awaiting since November last year. It means our base architecture is finished

Aw, you're no fun. I know getting your hopes up is bad if your expectations weren't met, but eh, I do not care.

I am not gonna complain if it will be released in June/July, but as I said, the architecture was one of the biggest things he was working on.

End June is not delaying it in my opinion. I just think they will need some time to address the feedback from the closed alpha.

Thanks for putting in an appearance Rocket, always great to hear from you first hand instead of through Reddit, thought for a minute you'd forgot your password ;)

Awesome news on the success of the architecture test, very happy.

"Put a spanner in the works"

Meaning

Deliberately causing mayhem.

Origin

'Put (or throw) a spanner in the works' refers to the calamitous effects of throwing a spanner into the gears and pistons of an engine. It's safe to say that the phrase was rarely called on to describe an actual event and is likely to have been coined for its imagery.

The first record of it in print is in P. G. Wodehouse's Right Ho, Jeeves, 1934:

"He should have had sense enough to see that he was throwing a spanner into the works."

The phrase sounds rather Wodehousian and it's quite possible that he coined it for that story.

John Lennon used a play on this in his book A Spaniard in the Works. Like most of us growing up in Britain in the 1950s Lennon was a fan of 'Professor' Stanley Unwin - a comic turn who spoke in a stream of inspired Spooneristic gobbledegook. The title owes much to Unwin's influence.

This describes everyone at my work.

Imagine all them people.

And none of them know who Lennon is either.

Even if I said "release the game" right now, there is a bunch of commercial crap that has to happen - so keep that in mind too. That's what makes a release date a bit mysterious. However, it's much easier for us to do the release via steam and this commercial stuff is essentially all done there.

There's still no release date but we've reached that climactic inevitability moment, where it's on the downhill.

And you'll be using the same sales/release model as Arma3 right?

Rocket would you say SA would be playable on integrated graphics like the new HD 5000 from intel?

Closed Alpha had no NDA right? I think all the video material that will produce will keep us entertained for a good bit of time

Meaning it's easier from here. He just did climb Everest, after all.

There is an NDA, I don't think streamers will be allowed to broadcast or distribute video or images at this point.
