Felixthefriendlycat 92 Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) There are some mixed opinions about jamming weapons and I understand most of them. I would still like to see gunjams being implemented because it is realistic and could add some tention and makes you think twice about picking up a new weapon. But what I really would like to see is a simple system for jamming that reflects how you treat your weapon. A simple one would be to find a can of oil to lubricate the parts. But it could also be a bit more elaborate than that by adding different factors like your gun could rust more quickly if you swim in salty sea water. Or if you are closer to the coast because the air is more salty. Another one would be if your gun gets hit by a bullet that would make it jam instantly. A jamming weapon could also be caused by bad ammo, because it could be rusty or it was soaked in water for a long time. But that might be another discussion. In short: I like the jamming concept but if you treat your gun well than you should have no problems because that is how it is in real life.edit: It could also totally change the hierarchy of weapons because now a well looked after 1866 winchester could be better than a rusty m4 carbine. OrLoK 16185 Posted May 26, 2013 Hello thereJamming and weapon upkeep would be a nice system in game IMHO as would be handloading ones own rounds and the issues that brings to the table.RgdsLoK

badluckburt 974 Posted May 26, 2013 We should make Google point to this thread when someone googles for the meaning of 'must-have'.I do believe this will be in the initial release as Dean has talked about this alot in interviews and it would add so much depth to the game when 'weaker' guns can be better than the 'stronger' ones.

Felixthefriendlycat 92 Posted May 29, 2013 Another addition to this idea that just slipped in my mind. What if the gun's internals where classified as objects. That would allow for crafting weapons, swapping out barrels for different ranges etc. Also you could sabotage a gun by installing a broken component into it. enforcer1975 1111 Posted May 29, 2013 Not necessarily but it will reduce the amount of malfunctions and jamsYou didn't get the ( sad ) joke with the Armalite... :(Could you salvage axle greese from abandoned vehicles for lube?I bet it would work but you would have to clean the weapon 10 times more since axle grease will burn and cause your weapon to foul up even more. Some people use certain types of motor oil to lube their Armalites. AKs just need some saliva... ;)
salty (DayZ) 39 Posted May 29, 2013 I'd also like to see multivitamins, body lotion, and hand sanitzer added to reduce bodily malfunction and and discomfort. Also, maybe some turtle wax and Rain-X for my vehicles. <_<
Schmeddy 9 Posted May 29, 2013 I want a full cleaning kit for weapons in SA. A gun cleaning kit would be a similar object to a tool box but more rare. Also I like the one guys post about pieces of the weapon being discoverable objects such as a barrel for long range or shorter ranges. However that seems like a lot of work for rocket and his team... Whatsausername 119 Posted May 29, 2013 I like this idea however I would like to add that a weapon getting hit by a bullet would not necessarily make it jam up (depending on caliber and placement of the shot).Could you salvage axle greese from abandoned vehicles for lube? Yes that works (Tried on a AR-15) but I would not want to do it, as axle grease is very thick and does not last long. After about 50 rounds I started having serious issues.
